Jason Bay powers 2 Homeruns in Red Sox 6-3 win

I need to see him do this against LAA, the Rays, Yankees, Chisox, Twinkies or any game where it truly matters. No offence, I like the kid and all.

the sox are tied in the loss column with the twins in mid august for the wildcard. every game matters now are you kidding? jason bay is a excellent player. hes had one off season when he was hurt. other than that hes been excellent. a all star and former rookie of the year.

That was in the jv league with watered-down pitching. The AL has much better pitching. Notice Bay's batting average dropping? Notice Manny tearing it up in the NL? This is no coincidence. Hey, I hope the kid tears it up. God love him.

NL pitching: 4.28ERA, 1.39WHIP, 3.43bb/9, 6.93k/9
AL pitching: 4.27ERA, 1.38WHIP, 3.33bb/9, 6.57k/9

And exactly how is a .348BA lower than a .282BA?

What?

He's hit like .350 since the trade and raised his season avg. 10 points in just over 2 weeks!

Well, I stand corrected as I was relying on yahoo data as opposed to mlb.com. Anyhew, Manny is batting .424 with 6hrs and 21rbi as opposed to JB who has 3hrs 16 rbi and batting .348 since the trade. Well for 1/3 the salary of Manny, I think the Sox did alright. However, I seem to remember Manny getting clutch hits against elite teams with ace pitching regularly throughout his tenure in Boston, I have yet to see Bay do that against big name pitching, ie, Halladay, LAA starters, etc. My main point is losing Manny hurts this team alot more than most are willing to acknowledge.

I used yahoo for my stats...

Why do you have to bring up Manny?

Did you watch the game Halladay pitched? Because Bay went 2 for 3. The only hitter in the lineup with multiple hits.

Do you think the Red Sox would be winning more games had they kept Manny, LOL.

Guy comes to one of the two biggest stages in baseball and, in 16 games so far, hits .348, drives in 16 runs, scores 17 runs, has an OBP of .411, a slugging percentage of .561, is rock-solid in the field, goes all-out all the time, the team is scoring like a full run higher per game whilst going 11-5...

...and still we find people who think that THE GUY WHO STOPPED PLAYING would have been a better option. If I didn't happen to be a Red Sox fan, I'd hate them, too.

I never played near the professional level, but did play organized sports. Out on the playing field, nothing else mattered as it was about winning. Anyone on that team that didn't have that attitude was toast. I can't imagine Jason, Dustin, Youk, Lowell, etc. expecting anything less from their teammates in giving 100 %. People who still defend Manny should tune in to reruns of Lost.

Manny was going to do no more good here, but Bay doesn't just do good he does great. We got what we were looking for in a player who can hit, play solid defense, and go out there everyday trying his hardest.
