"Watching Matt and hearing the criticism on TV, I don't even know where that was coming from, that was so far from what I was watching.

The quarterback, there is a lot of responsibility out there. I thought Matt was making good decisions. He was really decisive with his throws. Was every throw perfect? No, but that doesn't happen so often anyway.

I have seen Matt in practice and the improvement he makes. I love what I see from Matt. I have a lot of confidence in Matt."

Did Arlen Specter say that?

I didn't know Matt Cassel's mom was actually a football expert.

Good decisions?!? Really?

Re: One football experts analysis of Matt Cassel

Those were Tom Brady's words on WEEI yesterday.

When would Brady ever criticize a teammate though?

Re: One football experts analysis of Matt Cassel

He had to say that -- otherwise he'll find his car filled with foam packing. :D

Re: One football experts analysis of Matt Cassel

Tom Brady!

Ok, then it is an BS analysis. What did you really expect Brady to say. "Matt really sucked out there, I hope he enjoys the CFL this season."

Brady wasn't going to throw his friend under the bus. QBs will lie in their analysis of teammates especially friends. Heck, remember when Drew Bledsoe used to sell the public that Max Lane and Todd Rucci were actually legitimate NFL linemen?

Re: One football experts analysis of Matt Cassel

no offense to some posters on here, but I'll take Bradys word over theirs :D

Would you really take Brady's public opinion on a player ever? If you were ever to get him off the record in private, most definitely. But I don't even listen to Brady on WEEI anymore because other than the rare occassion he usually feeds them party line BS.

Me too. Tom is in a better position to analyze the play of another QB and if that QB did the right thing but other things may have broken down on the play then our resident FanSince01 commentators.

OK, just for giggles.....

Other than that pass to a wide open Bucs defender (I assume that was a brain lock by Cassel in absence of someone who'd know explaining that the receiver was supposed to run a square in but screwed up the route), which throws by Cassel in game #2 were poor decisions?

Re: One football experts analysis of Matt Cassel

Like others have said, he's not going to slate Matt publicly is he? It's like when you have a player who is p!ss poor, the coach gets a question about him and the coach gives the PC answer when you know damn well he doesn't rate him and will more than likely be down the job centre monday morning.

Other than that one pass and I think another to Moss, what pass wasn't a quick screen or slant? I am assuming Brady is talking about in general not just that game. The first preseason game, Cassel made more bad decisions when he threw. I know people want to blame Chad Jackson on one, but even if Jackson ran the wrong route Cassel made a bad decision to throw to him.

I am saying in general, not this past game, Cassel tends to make bad decisions and stare down his receiver.

Re: One football experts analysis of Matt Cassel

even though we love to analyze some alone in a team sport .no idea how the hell do this as i have not figured out. a few things standout.

we had no running play and the qb always got stuck with 3rd and long or 2nd and long. its a killer.
the OL did not give up a sack so it did better but they need to open holes.
With run support the offence would have looked alot better.
Drops one after the other .already their was no running game and the WR/TE where snoozing.

with the above i do not know what he was suppose to do.its not like he had good run support and receivers who can catch.

So, in other words, you've got no basis for your argument. Come on, you're usually much better than this.

The mob needs someone to beat with their sticks.

Well, other than the fact that Cassel stares down receivers and makes poor decisions, I do have no basis for my argument that he makes poor decisions and stares down. He stares down receivers on almost every play including this past preseason game. Just because he mastered the dink and dunk offense for 5 plays on Sunday night doesn't change the fact that he makes poor decisions and stares down receivers. He made two non-dink and dunk plays on Sunday and one of them was a very bad decision.
