Last year it was the "Spygate" affair, all fueled by the hype of ESPN sportscenter. Not to mention the rams walkthrough tape hype before the SB (although that is mostly Tomase who broke it, ESPN merely blew it up even more).

This year they are cracking down on the Pats just after their second preseason game. Saying junk like they have to keep #12 upright! For chrissakes it's preseason. Why all the HATE for the Pats from the four letter sports network?? It's as if they are targeting the Pats organization to find as much negative stuff as possible. Am I the only one who feels this way lately?

Don't forget we are embracing the Hate in 2008. It's only just begun.

I've never watched ESPN but if they're saying the Pats need to keep Brady upright, I agree. The alternative is Cassel or worse. A less than .500 team.

I have no idea why any Patriot fan would waste their time reading, listening or watching any programming associated with ESPN.

In fairness to ESPN, this is not hate it is ESPN doing what most media outlets do - take a very minor story like the Pats having a bad preseason game and blow it out of proportion to make it sound like the Pats are going to tank it this year. "It's only one preaseason game with two starters on the o-line out" isn't going to entertain. "Brady may get killed this season" will.

I agree completly. FESPN has had a war on the Pats since 2001 when BB became coach.

They are a waste of journalistic talent and not one Patriots fan should read them.....

Embracing the hate and like always the Jealousy and Envy.

In the end, from all the debris we will arise and wave our pats flag and reign

So are you saying the Patriots shouldn't keep No. 12 upright? What's the alternative, have him throw from his back.

I see it more like the Patriot fans have declared war on ESPN.

Like it or not ESPN feeds what the masses want.

The masses does not want endless Patriots bashing as much as Jets fans think so. Most fans could care less about the Pats. ESPN feeds sensationalism for the masses whether it is the Patriots or any other team.

yeah....CRAP!! just kidding. Your right that they do feed what the masses want...IMO it is biased against the Patriots Organization.

you have never watch ESPN...really? i find that hard to believe

Not putting on my tinfoil hat or anything, but the stock ESPN highlight showed and described Cassel's "interception" on his first pass. Guess "Cassel threw incomplete" didn't fit the theme of the segment.

Not that I don't love a good old ESPN hate-fest, but aren't they kinda right this time? I mean, if Brady goes down, the Pats are pretty much screwed. Of course, that's always been true, so I'm not really sure why it would become a point of emphasis now.

More proof that the Patriots are still on the top of the hill, looking down at most of the NFL. Great team + coach that dislikes the media = recipe for hatred by the tools at ESPN.

I hear you on ESPN, but really - what other network is viable to watch if you are a sports junkie?

ESPN overstating the obvious. For the love of God...if any good team lost their starting QB, for the year, they would be in serious trouble.

DeOssie made a good point today on the Big O Show. "If you have a really good back up QB, your starter is probably not that good."

That is a good point....and very true.

It would be nice if ESPN did some research. Hell they could probably find this info on their own f$%^ing website.

Anyone remember what the Patriots record was after 2 preseason games last year? Anyone?

That's right .. the Patriots were 0-2, just like this year. They LOST 13-10 in Tampa and 27-24 at home against Carolina. Minus the Super Bowl, I'd say it was an amazing and successful season (although I still haven't recovered).

The preseason record means absolutely nothing to our coach. It's all about player evaluation and getting prepared for the games that actually count.

It's quite simple: if Brady can play we're going to be a Top 3 team and in the mix at the end; if he can't we're not going to win a Super Bowl no matter who our back up is.
