Seau and investment group open a Ruby Tuesday in San Bernardino - Signs of moving on?

From what this article said and the fact that 7 Ruby Tuesdays are expected to open within the next 16 months in the San Bernardino area with Seau and his investment group,you have to think unless there is a dire emergency needed on this team,Seau has already moved on to being a business Entrepreneur into this major restaurant chain and I doubt with all that going on he comes back unless like I said BB begs him in an emergency situation at LB.

Owning his 1 Sports bar is one thing but I think it takes some time to work on owning 7 of these restaurants and time is not what a player in the NFL has much of this time of year so I think its not likely he is back.

He is without a championship ring but you can never take the champion-type player he has been for 18 years - If he does not return I hope his restaurant chains bring much success - (hopefully better than the Ruby Tuesday near me which closed 2 weeks ago after 7 years in the same location)

I highly doubt he's going to actively manage a Ruby Tuesdays

Most likely someone in his investment group is in charge of management; or they hired someone to do the job.

Someone who has more than 10 million in the bank (I'm assuming its somewhere between 10 and 30 mil) isn't going to hang out at Ruby Tuesday

He'll prolly show up from time to time for photos and advertising, mingle with the crowd and all that. It's a good business move for him, as folks would be more likely to go to one of his places if there was a chance, however slim, of getting to see him, say hi, etc. He doesn't need to do a thing operations-wise, just put up some cash, make the few annual appearances, and cash his checks.

Wasn't it Matt Light who is opening up 12 Dunkin Donuts franchises down south?

I fully expect to see Junior in a Pats uniform this year.

No connection at all...I don't think he's needed at the RTs...there are plenty of others to really watch what is going on..Interesting..but not a deal killer.

I seriously doubt this will stop Seau from coming back. He would only be tied up with the football season for 3-4 months, not 3-4 years. His partners can handle most of the work during that time. He doesn't actually need to be there every day while they are constructing the restaurants.

Besides, many players have multiple franchises they are involved in. Colvin has several UPS Stores. Willie McGinest (three franchises), Ron Stone, and Raheem Brock own Wingstop franchises. Mike Minter owns a chain of beauty salons with an American Idol contestant.

It's just VC, and VC often is not at all hands on whether it's 1 factory or 100 restaurants.

Yes,He owns 1 sports bar which is doing well but 7-20 openings of a retaurant franchise is quite a big move and a smart one I think for Seau to get his post football career ready to go instead of spending the money he has earned for the past 18 years and squandering it away without a secured future - Just shows he is a smart individual.

I was also surprised by this move,I thought it would be more in the line of owning beachfront property for real estate type stuff

But there is money in the food business for sure

Wow, You should redo the title of this, it should say "Seau's MONEY will open Ruby Tuesday...and as he obviously won't be managing restaurants and he's doing this because he see's (Or He's being told by his money managers and handlers that he will see) a nice ROI, he'll be back in a Patriots uniform in about 2 weeks, because Jr. knows that's his real job."

Seau is a figurehead for the investment group. He's probably a very limited partner. Its unlikely that he deals a lot with the day to day set-up of these places.

Geeze - there's no way Seau's going to have any time for football now. Restaurant management is tough - from interviewing waitresses to dealing with food orders. I'd also expect he's going to serve as host, personally welcoming each guest.

What you are saying is stupid and have no relevance to Seau

Heath Evans is nowhere near ready to retire unless he gets cut and not picked up

Randy Moss is at least several years away from retirement and is already looking ahead

Seau is of retirement age and has not any real reason to play again unless he wakes up at night and puts on a helmet for no particular reason,I don't see that,Yes he wanted to win a ring and last year was certainly his best shot,I think he will live with the fact that he played the game as best a guy can do and probably just moves on to other endeavors like players such as Marino,Jim Kelly and Curtis Martin ect who never won titles but knew it was time to quit and move on to other careers.

He is going to be making as much money if not more in all his restaurants and sports bar in a year than he did in a season in the NFL

Preparing to own stores of this magnitude will take him some time to get things settled and he will have to be there on occasion as all owners do (I am one of those multi-store owners) and once again why go through the rigors of a whole NFL season moving all about the country when you can simply hang em up and sit back and reap the rewards,Hes 38 and still has the ability but I can't see it happening,even if the flame is not totally burned out.

I will be glad if I am wrong because I would love some veteran backup help at ILB where it is kind of thin in terms of experience, but I just don't think so and think he has nothing more to prove unless not having a ring becomes a major factor to him to try again - doubtful.
