What is wrong with you people?

One preseason game, played on a wet field, lost by one point and many are jumping ship.

PLease stop, my head hurts from all the posts critical of the teams:

Offensive line

QB depth

Defensve backfield

Special teams

Chad Jackson, Matt Cassell, Bryant, Maroney, CJ Jones.

You may begn to worry if they play like this in game 3 of preseason or the home opener, until then - hush and act like knowlegible fans of New England please.

Re: Stop this madness over one preseason game.

quit telling people how to act. How about quit wasting everyones time with posts like this.

I would think a serviceman could at least say please and respect people.

Who are you to make that judgement...have you not read these ridiculous posts since last night?

Why don;t you please not read what I post.

You're right, lets talk about brett favre.

seriously, this is not going to be another 18-0 season so the sooner you get used to weekly knee jerk reactions the better

Sigh, you may be right....how soon they forget about what it was like to dream of winning a home playoff game. In case anyone is keeping score, it "only" took 36 years for that to happen (fog bowl).

I don't care how many games we win this year...as long as we win the LAST one we play (after making playoffs of course)

Hey, if we can't be hand-wringing homers, then live isn't worth living! (and I don't care what you say, Cassell stinks, but there doesn't seem to be anything we can do about it - except complain).

I wouldn't want to be one of those Patriot players that played. They are going to have a long 9-10 days before the next game.

those practices can't be fun

Re: Stop this madness over one preseason game.

I watched the game again today and it wasn't as bad as most think upfront. As Lamont Jordan said after the game yesterday, things are never as good or as bad as they seem. Baltimore has a good front seven, both 1's and 2's and they attack which is difficult for an O-line with multiple people playing out of position and some newcomers. The O-line wasn't as bad as it seemed and neither were the QB's, the timing was definitely off but that's something you would expect, with this group and in the 1st pre-season game. In addition, a lot of these guys playing won't be here in the reg season.

You're right...but so is fggsand! It is pretty ridiculous to be worried after a game that means nothing other than tryouts for the new guys. I was at the game and from the start I figured I didn't care who won. I didn't expect or want the Pats to be dominant either...it was a PRACTICE game.

Re: Stop this madness over one preseason game.

Guys... in real life, we would not go for two with six minutes left, not as far as I can calculate. It was a practice. Players are learning plays and the coaches are watching for missed/hit assignments and FOLLOWING orders.

Cassel may have thrown based on assignments and his receivers blew them off. It's hard to tell who is his getting the big Bill finger wag from some of those plays.

probably going to be 19-0

I am not worried. This site is full of fans who overreact. I remember in 2006 when they lost to the jets and some posters were saying they need to bench tom brady because he is past his prime and need to see if matt is the answer at qb.

Re: Stop this madness over one preseason game.

I was actually pretty happy with how the game went. Winning/losing or how the team overall plays is meaningless in pre-season.

I care about how young players like Mayo, Crable, Wheatley, Meriweather and Chad Jackson look; and I was thrilled with the youngsters. Mayo is and was a stud. He'll start and be very good from day 1. Crable was better than I could've ever expected from a 3rd round rookie in his 1st game. Wheatley was very solid. Meriweather had a couple nice tackles and I only noticed 1 real mistake from him (a missed tackle that allowed a guy to get 4 extra yards or so).

Chad is the exception, as he was pretty terrible, but I'm not too (i.e. ready to start a "Chad is a bust" thread) worried until I see him playing similarly with Tom Brady at QB, Randy Moss and Wes Welker at WR and with our regular O-Line in there.

I was also watching Seymour a bit as I'm looking for a big bounce back year from him and I was pretty impressed with what I saw from him: forcing an incompletion by hitting Boller once and creating pressure and forcing him into Adalius (or was it Woods? I can't even remember who was credited with the sack...just that Seymour's pressure played a big role in it and that Warren recovered the fumble) for the strip sack another time. Plus, the 1st unit run D was lights out and we all know he plays a big part in that.

Whether Matt Cassell sucks or not means next to nothing as he won't see the field unless we are up 3 touchdowns in the 4th, barring a Brady injury.

I think others are reading into the O-Lines play too much as well. Light and Neal sat out, Kazcur was playing out of position, Mankins barely played, Hochstein was at center, Pete McMahon was at right tackle. This should only worry you if you believe our entire line is going to be injured at some point and I think a lot of teams would have similar problems as we would if they had to play all their backups.

I'm really not sure what there is to be upset about.

I think that was the point the OP was trying to make, but it hits a nerve with those who are never happy unless we win every game including pre season by 30 points. Those are the same passionate people Tom was referring to when he says football matters to them too much, which of course also upset some of them...And attempting to explain to them why there is nothing to be upset about naturally upsets them further and makes them increasingly defensive and even more outspoken because they perceive that as an attempt to insult their situational football intelligence. And reality on a message board is that folks on both ends of the spectrum - from the speak no evil ultra homers to the pseudo objective doom and gloomers - perceive themselves as enlightened football experts...:D

If Cassel "sees" the field as you say....we are in serious trouble.......Agree with alot of what you say.......and it was a practice game....But I for one have seen enough of Cassel.....

It was a scrimmage and there were things I liked and disliked, but at the end of the day I just want them ready to play KC. In retrospect I thought the Pats peaked to early last year "November" and was not playing their best football at the end of the year. I suspect they will lose some games early this year but I expect them to be peaking in January.

The items you noted were on this knowlegable fans list of things to watch before camp started. Why would I stop talking about them now? Pre season games are all part of the process as well.

Re: Stop this madness over one preseason game.

That, my dear friend, is an amazing point worth pursuing by everyone moaning about how bad the team played. No friggin player gives any ball or hug to any of the coaches! This is ridiculous and reveals deeper fissures in the team that is now doomed to go 0-16. :bricks:
