Manny, Manny, Manny.....

In a perfect world Boras gets suspended or thrown out for misconduct ... freaking slime bucket. Sure ... manny is guilty also but with the guaranteed contracts what can they do to him.

he definitely dogged it and faked the knee thing...nothing will come of it.

I agree...and obviously Manny did want out of Boston if he wanted them to drop those option years, cause where else is he going to get paid $20 million. At 36, it's hard to imagine that he'll get a long-term deal worth that much more than 40 million, unless someone signs him to a 5 year deal at say, maybe 15 million a year. What kind of deal do you guys think he's looking at?

Its the same thing that (can't think of the name) the fourth Sox outfielder pulled and was traded to the Athletics. I think it was last year?

How times fly. Do you remember what he pulled. I remember at the time, my thoughts were F' you Payton.

I'm pretty sure that he verablly attack Francona about playing time, he was relased the next day.

What Manny did, was to erase everything good, he had done in Boston for 8 years. Some guys are just so stupid! I loved Manny, the antics, all of it. But when you have absolute proof that the guy quit on his team, then you have to dump him.

Manny will not go into the HOF wearing a Sox cap, if #24 goes up in right field, it will be for Dwight Evans (wouldn't that be a kick in Manny's pants, if the Sox had Dewey day and retiered his #24 (like Manny never happened)).

The Sox should give #24 to the thrid cathcer that they call up in September.

Hopefully the "investigaiton" will let the Sox "recoop" the two sandwich picks that they would have gotten if Manny left in free agency. The Commish's office has always been "in bed" with the Sox ownership group, so you never know.

I would die laughing if Boras got suspended, but I really can't see that happening.

The Boston Globe owns the Red Sox. Why would anyone believe info reported about this situation in the Globe?

Half truths are often more deceptive than full blown lies.

Don't people see the conflict of interest here between the Globe and their "anonymous sources close to the situation"?

Red Sox fans, of which I am one, are embarrassing themselves on this.

Theo wanted to treat Manny as a year to year commodity, or he didn't want him around.

Manny felt that a HOF player so historically significant to the franchise should not be treated like that. That the Red Sox should either sign him to a contract and let him finish his career with the team, or they should let him find someplace that wanted him. Not jerk him around year to year like a kid up from the minors.

IMO, he was right.

it's interesting watching Fans working themselves up into an anti-Manny frenzy based on propaganda originating from the team.

"The best everyday player since Ted Williams", you've got to be kidding me! Maybe the best at production. I know you believe he was a hell of a teammate, tho, I'd bet huge sums of money the captain would disagree with that (of course he would never say so publicly). Manny was less then an average base runner. How many times did we see him tip his helmet off going to home, and being called out. He was a below average fielder. He made some great plays, but those were matched by some classic boneheads. Hey remember the one time he dived and caught that ball in right center. Problem was it was being thrown by Damon.
Fred Lynn or Manny, and your taking Manny?

What's embarrassing is defending a guy who quit on his team because he wanted to be traded or have the two option years on his contract dropped so that 1) he could make even more than a paltry $20M/yr, and b) his agent would get a cut of the new contract.

The Globe could flat-out not exist and anyone who didn't have a nice internal view of their own rectum could see that he quit playing hard, faked injury, started fights with teammates, and publicly trashed the organization.

Is Manny your brother or something? I can't think of another reason why you'd defend him so vehemently. You remind me of one of those parents who refuses to believe their son committed a crime, even though it's obvious that they did: "Nope, not my little Neddie! It's the media's fault!"

What's really funny is the moral outrage displayed by the Red Sox organization about how Manny didn't run out a ground ball. "Look at what lessons that teaches kids!"

These are the same people who support late term abortion, gay marriage and transgender rights. Just ask them. But don't run out a grounder and the moral foundation of society is threatened.

If you can't see you're being played, more's the pity.

Whoa. This explains a lot. Nice not talking to you.

You just went off the rails there, what the hell are you talking about?

Manny didn't just "not run out a groundball." I guess you weren't paying very close attention. That's ok, one of Manny's former teammates on the Sox should anonymously say something to the media soon along the lines of what you somehow know; "Manny was done wrong by the Sox, the media is assasinating him, the FO was jerking him around etc." Still waiting for that..........

Manny is getting killed, because it is obvious to anyone and everyone, that he was tanking it! (I guess what the Sox needed was for Crash Davis to go to his house and point this out to Manny!). I will agree that the Globe is in bed with the Sox, however, when Manny goes for an MRI, and can not tell which knee is hurting him, and then he shows up in LA and is spanking HRs left and right (and running full speed on grounders), it is pretty obvious that he quit on his team, and that what has turned me.

ps. let's keep the political stuff where it belongs, some of us come here for a repreive from that.

No probe of Manny Ramirez trade from Red Sox to Dodgers
Commissioner Bud Selig's office says there were follow-up questions but no formal investigation of the last-minute deal that changed the terms of Manny Ramirez's contract.
By Bill Shaikin, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer

The baseball commissioner's office has not launched a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the Manny Ramirez trade and does not plan to take action against any party in the deal, his spokesman said today. The Boston Globe reported in today's editions that Commissioner Bud Selig had ordered an investigation into "the circumstances of Manny's final hours with the Red Sox."
Pat Courtney, the spokesman for Selig, said the commissioner had asked for clarification on several issues involving the trade and did not order a formal inquiry into the matter.

The Globe previously reported that Scott Boras, the agent for Ramirez, called the Red Sox shortly after the deal was completed and suggested that Ramirez would be happy to stay in Boston for the remainder of the season since the Sox had agreed to drop the options and let him become a free agent.

Boras, who did not negotiate Ramirez's existing contract and would not earn a commission without negotiating a new or revised one for him, told The Times that report was "completely inaccurate."

Hate to ruin your logic but Pete Rose always ran out ground balls and he wasn't much of a role model outside the white lines......

the difference the redsox front office is paying manny 20 mill a year to play. its got nothing to do with morality or the lack of it. what manny did is the same as anybody getting paid at there job and then not bothering to do it.
