Liked what I saw with all. Need a vet back-up QB and we're in good shape. Think our D will be much improved with the kids and a finally motivated Big $ey (contract is up in 2 years) and AD looking like he's ready to dominate.
Think this Pats team will be more similar to their Super Bowl lineage than last years team. Tougher defense and a more balanced run/pass ball control offense.

I will add Guyton and Redd. Both played well when in and showed that they have the talent.

Right now I think Izzo becomes one of the unkind cuts to keep one of those guys on the roster.

I'll also add that Crable suprised me by playing in coverage. It was one of the first things I noticed long before his pick.

If Aiken is seriously hurt I think Izzo makes it. But you're right on Guyton and Redd, we need to find someway to keep those guys around.

Noodle-arm? You could do worse for backup.

The real winner; Chad Pennington....his phone could be going off with an offer to join a superbowl contending team..

Keeping my fingers crossed...

You know, it's been some years since a crop of Patriots rookies yielded so much to get excited about. The '06/'07 drafts were uncharacteristically lackluster, but this group looks tremendously talented.

Exactly my thoughts on Crable. I rewound a few plays where the ball never went near him, just because I noticed he was blanketing his man all the way down the field.

He's going to need to put on some weight, and of course one game against an incomplete Ravens offense isn't enough to say he's going to be great, but I was extremely impressed with the variety of skills he displayed last night.

As for the OP, I agree as well, and I would add Meriweather to that list as well. At least in the running game, he was making stops and seemed like a sure tackler. Tough to see how he was in coverage, but I saw a lot more decisiveness in him last night.

Although he didn't break one you can see why they love Slater.

He needs to see the lanes better I think, but he has tremendous speed, that's for sure. I also thought he looked very smooth and sure handed in the passing game. Would be a pleasant surprise if he adds depth to our receivers.

Wasn't it Slater who dropped the pass when O'Connell was at the goal line????

Wish they showed this here last night, I've got to wait till Tampa to see the new boys, I've read some good things though.

CJ Jones, no?

Yup, that was Jones. I don't think Slater dropped a ball last night, though he really didn't have any tough looks. Still, in the short passing game, he could contribute with a run after the catch, and he looks sure handed enough.

CJ Jones, no?

CJ in a later play had the ball bounce off his chest for an INT. Earlier O'C threw a nice pass to get out of the EZ and I thought it was Slater who droped that one.

Is this list just for the rookies, or can we mention Woods? He had a terrific night.

I was talking about his special teams play which is why they picked him. I also agree about being more patient with the lanes but I like that he's not afraid to hit the hole at full speed.

In the passing game he's certainly a work in progress but I doubt he sees 10 plays from scrimmage with this roster, at least I pray not because that means a lot of injuries. I do believe Jones dropped the ball not Slater however.

For some reason, I spent a couple of series focusing specifically on Woods. He had a shaky start but then seemed to hit his groove and start playing football. (How long has it been since he actually started a game and saw that much action? Maybe some rustiness/nerves?) He got decent pressure, and surprised me with quickness outside on a sweep or two.

CJ looked like he would make the team in the first half, then he started playing like himself again

It will be close, but I don't think Izzo is cut. He didn't play last night and ST looked horrible.

I judge rookies in the preseason on how fast they seem to adapt to the scheme and the rookies have adapted pretty well from what I saw last night. It is hard to tell how good guys like Crable or O'Connell are because of the competition, but they seem to have the system down pretty well.

As for Jordan, I was always high on this guy since he got here. I think he will be the Thunder to Maroney's Lightning this season. He is the guy they made Morris into last year.
