Skip Bayless just said the Jets will go 12-4 and beat the Pats in week 2.. Wow :eek::eek:

Re: Favre ball-washing continues..

The media and former players siding with Favre is getting out of control. They're all making the Packers out to be the bad guys and acting as if Favre is completely innocent in this entire matter. It's disgusting.

There are going to be plenty of writers/analysts that are going to make these stupid comments. They are looking for the response you just gave.

Jets will end up being 8-8, 9-7 at best.

The next time Skip Bayless is right about something will be the first time. He is a simpleton who makes predictions just to hear himself babble.

I would love to just slap all that make-up right off of his face.

Indeed.....goodness they are all attacking this like white to rice...

The Packers are indeed the bad guys. 20 million dollar bribe? That is pretty bad...just to attempt to get a player to stop playing anywhere. That is where they shot themselves in the foot. Their relationship with Favre is now completely destroyed. They will never make another penny from him (and GB needs the money badly.) I think this realization hit them in the last couple of days and sending him to NY instead of TB was a parting FU to their once franchise QB.

That's weird. I got suckered in to First Take an hour or so ago bc I was flipping to the news and saw they were talking about the Jests. Skippy and the other guy say that the Jests were going to go 1-4 in their first 4 games.

I didn't see all of it, but I'm certain they both agreed the Jests would lose wk 2 to NE. Maybe I heard wrong?

Skip Bayless?!? Well, there is a ringing endorsement. I think the guy still has a job for comic relief.

I agree. It was so offensive that it took Favre a few weeks to turn it down.

Seriously, every NFL net guy thinks the trade is great, a good fit.

I'd be willing to bet the only guys who will shoot straight are Eisen and Woodson. Maybe Deion if he gets to say anything. I also think Dukes is a straight shooter, he just really thinks Brett can pull it off. Did he live near a power-plant a kid? :D

No, but I think he might have eaten paint chips.

I don't think they handled it well, but come on... he retired officially (paperwork and everything), the team drafted two QBs to fill the need, then he says, "Eh, just kidding. You know that whole offseason plan you had? Get ready to change it because your Lord and Savior is coming back!"

Then when the team said, "Uh, actually, we'd prefer it if you stayed retired because, you know, it kinda changes the direction we want to move in," he throws a hissy fit, shocked SHOCKED that the packers didn't drop to their knees and service him for his generous offer.

The whole thing stinks.

The only reason anyone is saying that it is a good trade is because the Jets had absolutely no one who could play QB. Favre is an improvement, but you could have put any decent veteran QB on that team and it would have been an improvement. It is not going to make that Jets competitive in the division (well against Miami maybe) and they are not going to make the playoffs.

Re: Favre ball-washing continues..

Re: Favre ball-washing continues.. Yes it certainly does. As I was clicking past espn 1&2 on my way to the Weather Channel they were doing a piece on the rats and Lord Farve i didn't stop. On espn 2 I saw what looked like old video about a team with Green and Yellow uni's. This time I did stop and it was a piece on the Farve resurrecting the Packers. Most likely if i didn't move on it would have been about Lord Farve resurrecting the Rats.

No, way people who actually think that the NFL's career leader in almost every passing category will succeed. Someone call the police.

He had the right to come back from retirement and the Packers had the right to protect their interests. It just turns out that their interests were in Favre playing nowhere so they tried to pay him off. That is what stinks. Besides, if Favre did get released and ended up in Minnesota, well....that would have been just a whole lotta fun to watch, but anyway, the whole thing could have been a lot more civil if the Packers did not try to force him to stay retired. They could have traded him or let him go right away but they didn't and now they look really foolish and a little bit sleezy.

I wish some one would treat me like crap and pay me $20 million to retire. Why is that a bad thing? They gave Favre another option since he wasn't happy with the teams the Packers were willing to trade Favre. They were accomodating the guy. Their mistake was in the public relations part.

As trading Favre to the Jets, the Jets were reported to have offered the best offer to the Packers by a wide margin. How is it the Packers are saying FU to Favre for getting the best deal possible for themselves.

More and more bulletin board material, hope Rodney does not catch wind of this..

The distasteful aspect was the Packers attempt to control a player's future. They in no way wanted to trade Favre. They wanted to see him retire and short of that they wanted to bench him, but 12.5 mil in salary and cap space made that impossible, so they had to trade him.

Favre wanted to go to Tampa Bay (short of a Minn deal.) Who in their right mind would want to go to the Jets right now? I doubt very much that Tampa couldn't or wouldn't counter the Jets offer. GB just wanted to stick it to Favre for the whole saga taking place.
