This is great news - with Favre on board, the "Jets will win the AFCE East" talk will spread through the media, and the Pats will feel nice and disrespected.

I'm scuuuured.

Who, what?

No. They went from "Crap" to "Slightly Decent"

If it works out, JETS go 8-8 or 9-7 and miss the playoffs and 'Gini gets fired and Lord Farve retires in discrace on a mediocre team.

If it doesn't, JETS go 5-11 or 6-10 and miss the playoffs and 'Gini gets fired and Lord Farve retires in discrace on a mediocre team.

I think this is great.

This sounds a lot like the threads on http://forums.theganggreen.com

The guy hasn't even left his couch in Mississippi yet and they are already predicting 16-0

I love the "we've got the best qb in the AFC East talk". I guess they've been starving so long that they think interceptions is a positive stat

This is beautiful! Manjudas professional nads are on the table this season (Jets have spent tons to win NOW) and he has a 38 old year old half hearted interception machine to save him?? :D This is going to be great.

Last I remember, Favre lost 35-0 at home to the Patriots with a far superior team than this year's Jetties. This will be fun.

Shouldn't the title of this thread be "Favre brings the Jets from mediocre to decent"?

Newsflash - Farvre takes Jets decent to delerious (with grief). Or from takeoff to crashland.

Great, let Mangini tie his horses to skill declining, 38 year old who hates film room work. Farve has to learn a whole new system, new conference opponents, and get in synch with his new WR's.

It probably will only cost them a 3rd rounder (if he gets over 50 % of snaps) -but will screw up the Jets cap and delay the finding of a new francise QB.

Farve will be on a limited playbook while he learns the new system - which will make it easier for opponents to defend.

It is a sign of desperation for Mangini and Tanenbaum to keep their jobs. And will only increase Jets fans expectations and give Mangini a shorter room of reprieve when things go wrong. Both will be out of jobs come years end (after Jets go 8-8 and miss the playoff after great expectations after playing Dan Snyder this past offseason).

Brett, you should instead open a chain of Waffle restaurants since you are an expert in the subject! :p

They went from bad to average- great job, guys! Definitely worth putting the team's future on hold over. I'm not even remotely worried about the Jets winning the division.

I can only imagine what the talking heads from ESPN are going to say about this .....not that I watch them any more but it should be pure entertainment....

You do have to give the Jets credit for taking this gamble. Having said that, I hope it blows up in their faces and Mangini gets canned.

Hate is such a powerful emotion.:D

They Jets goofed by NOT drafting a QB this year. Except in rare cases, we are seeing the young QBs ride the bench for 2-3 years learning the system and getting ready to take over. If they TRULY weren't happy with Pennington or Clemens, they should have drafted a QB. Instead, they will lose at least a 3rd round pick but probably a second..

As I said in another thread, if the Jets lose the 2nd, then they have screwed themselves going into the future unless they trade away some current talent to get back into the 2nd round, because they won't get their QB to develop under Favre otherwise/ This is clearly a desperation move by Mangini and Tannenbaum after last year's fiasco.

John Clayton is bashing the deal: http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=34224

We do have one thing in common with jet fans. We all think John Clayton is some nerd who lives at home with his parents and knows nothing about the real world or the nfl.

I think I hear him crying somewhere.....calling us bullies......

But yeah it has only begun....I am sure "Skip Woods" and who ever else he is going to argue with today will have a field day....
