That might be grit, or that might be simply what an athlete says when he gets glory jerked from under his nose. Maybe he doesn't care. He does not work to delight, and people do not crave him. He just wins.
But if people don't care about him, if they don't see him as the putative king of the king sport of all sports, then why should people care about football at all? "They shouldn't," sayeth the Brady. "Look at the attention I get: It's because I throw a football. But that's what society values. That's not what God values. God could give a ****, as far as I'm concerned. He didn't invent the game. We did. I have some eye-hand coordination, and I can throw the ball. I don't think that matters to God."
