...because God doesn't

That might be grit, or that might be simply what an athlete says when he gets glory jerked from under his nose. Maybe he doesn't care. He does not work to delight, and people do not crave him. He just wins.

But if people don't care about him, if they don't see him as the putative king of the king sport of all sports, then why should people care about football at all? "They shouldn't," sayeth the Brady. "Look at the attention I get: It's because I throw a football. But that's what society values. That's not what God values. God could give a ****, as far as I'm concerned. He didn't invent the game. We did. I have some eye-hand coordination, and I can throw the ball. I don't think that matters to God."

It's fun. Just throwing the ball. "We were playing the Bills last year and I got a call in from the sidelines," Tom Brady says, regaling now. "And Josh, the coordinator, he says, 'Second and one, get the first down.' We're up 17? A lot, I don't remember. We're on the 48-yard line, and Moss was wide, so I just said, 'Randy, go deep.' And I just laid it up there. I just threw it. I ran off and Josh shouted, 'Just get the first down!' And I said, 'How was that?' They pulled me out of the game. That's exactly what I was trying to do."

I love my QB!

I liked this part much better:

A lot, I don't remember. We're on the 48-yard line, and Moss was wide, so I just said, 'Randy, go deep.' And I just laid it up there. I just threw it. And I see Zeke agrees with me....

Wow dude, you and I have been 100% on the same page for a couple weeks now...I keep reading your posts and thinking "gee, glad I didn't have to type that"...guess I was a half sec quicker today. :D

Great article. Thanks for sharing!!!

For what it's worth, that picture of me and Tommy (My avatar) was taken about an hour after he finished that interview (the first part in LA) at Trump National Golf Course on May 31st of this year.

what is tom saying in this interview?

Careful, Tommy Boy, because as well as what you said, I'm pretty sure God wouldn't appreciate you exploiting us for being foolish either.

How is he exploiting us?

We're the ones handing the money over to him.

If anything, he's dissing his fellow players and coaches, esp. Mr. Quiet Strength, who believe that their exploits in football are somehow related to some divine plan.

Exactly...Love Brady as much as anyone, but if that's what he truly believes, hes worse by admitting this and continuing to take advantage of our foolish fandom

How's that? Come on. Please stop it.

He's simply saying he gets paid too much and gets too much attention. How is that taking advantage of us?

You should probably not take it too seriously. He mentioned God, the irrational meters went off the charts, context is now irrelevant.

Ding ding ding, We're the ******s that get all goofy over everything they say, do or even think. He's just pointing out fact. I have no issue.

...... and for the record, if there is a god, he don't give sh~t about football or if the Patriots go 1-15 or 15-1 one. If you thing so, well....... I can't help you.

Read between the lines of the quote...

hes making his stand as a man of strong religious beliefs as God being his ultimate higher power...that's fine. His interpretation of said religion is one where football is of no importance..understandable. He then goes on to say that fans shouldn't care for football as it is really has no value on God's grand scale...fine, understandable....

Guess what Tom, your still making an unbelievable amount of cash every single year completely as a result of the game your playing. Because of who? Us, the fan populace...The ones who are providing you with the life that so many would give up their limbs for...and he still continues to play, with both the savvy that God doesn't care and neither should we..to reap the benefits of playing such a trivial game.

maybe you understand where I'm coming from now?

although its irrelavant to the point..i don't believe in God, but Tommy does, and should act accordingly

Wow, that's a reach.

He's saying that there is more to Football, simply put. Football is his job and he's seeing past that. Tom's not the robot football player that appears on Sunday and disappears on Monday night. He's got a life and there are more important things to him than just Tom Brady the football player.

Don't hate on him or hold him to a high standard because he makes a lot of money, that's irrelevant to the discussion.

If you want to hold him to a standard that is set by the fact that he's a public figure, ok thats fine. But he shys away from all that, he wants to be a regular guy after it's all said and done on Sunday.

And don't bring up all the paparazzi pictures, he wants that about as much as you want a box of rocks - and don't bring up Giselle, he does not want that exposure either.
