With Troy Brown gone, who do you consider most versatile on this team now?

Which player do you consider most versatile on the team now that Troy Brown is gone?.

I am going with Russ Hochstein, Even though he is not the most talent OL he certainly can play any position on the line and does a decent job and I am glad to have a guy like this on this team - He is the new Mr. Versatile IMO

I certainly can see Welker coming in as the kicker if Gostkowski got hurt in a game,I would say he is most talented at that vs. any others on the team.

I know I'm an outsider looking in but I would vote for Mike Vrabel. He's a great outside linebacker, has been able to fill in as a good inside linebacker, and can be a productive #3 goal line tight end. I think you could make the argument that he has the most relevant versatility out of any NFL player due to the importance of the linebacker position in Belichick's 3-4.

oh for sure, if Gost goes down, its def. welker. I think he's even listed as the backup kicker (I totaly just made that part up) but I would bet it would be him.

Adalius Thomas. The guy has played ILB, OLB, DE, SS, and even CB during his career.

If you're taking about who can play multiple positions on offense, defense, and ST like TB did, then you have to say Vrabel.

If not him than Ray Ventrone is doing everything he can to make the team.
I've read where he is playing both sides of the ball just like Troy.

Nickelback
Punt Returner
Kickoff Returner
Gunner
Gunner Blocker
Runningback
(Someone help me out, I'm sure he's been used in other positions.)

Troy has also been used as a QB in a preseason game.

Russ Hochstein has started at G & C and been used as a TE, RT, FB, and Wedge Blocker, not to mention blocking on Punt and FG teams. He's also the emergency Long Snapper.

Mike Vrabel has started at OLB, ILB, and DE, he's also played TE, DT, SS, wedge blocker, wedge buster, blocker/coverage on the Punt team, blocker on the FG team.

Adalius Thomas has started at DE, DT, ILB, OLB and played CB - in Baltimore, here he's just been used as a ILB/OLB/DE.

Wes Welker has started at WR for the Patriots and been used as a PR/KR. In Miami he also kicked FGs. I believe there was one or two other things he did for Miami.

Slater and Ventrone, though both are working hard and doing well, aren't in the running until they can do this in a real NFL game. For that matter, Ventrone is ahead of Slater, he's played SS and been on Special Teams in a real game.

The bottom line, just about every player on the team has cross-trained at another position, or been asked to play another role for a trick play. You have to love it.

Vrabel and Thomas are the two serious candidates.

I put Vrabel ahead of Thomas because:

A. He's done it on THIS team.
B. Vrabel routinely plays on both sides of the ball. Indeed, he's at least a JAG at goal-line TE. By comparison, Troy (his 3 INTs notwithstanding) was something of a liability on defense.
