Listening to all this talk about QB learning curves and which QB's are currently on or starting their curves. I remember we used to say...when Bledsoe was playing that it takes @5 years for a QB to mature.

So anyways ... did Brady ever know there was a QB learning curve?
His history here pretty much says nobody ever told him about "the curve". :p

It's so player dependent. Just like some LB take a year or two then others like Patrick Willis look like they've been pros for years. Looks like we might have gotten ourselves one of those Willis type LB too :)

Well, Brady had the luxary of having a Super Bowl ring in his first season. He definitely did have a learning curve and he is a far better QB today than he was in the 2001-2003 seasons. Brady relied heavily on short quick passes back then and didn't really have the versatility that he has know. I also think his pocket prescense has improved exponentially. He now has a jedi-like power to know exactly when to step up. He wasn't as smooth early in career.

The thing with Bledsoe was that expectations were far greater than even Brady's. Bledsoe was a first round pick and early in his career had Madden-like shootouts with Marino. People were expecting him to turn into the level of what Brady is today. So when he fell short of expectations, they looked to the 5 years it took Favre to become an elite QB and assumed Bledsoe would follow the same path. Unfortunately (or fortunately since we would never had Brady as our starter), he didn't.

I think when talking about the learning curve of QBs in the NFL, it probably isn't fair to everyone else to use one of the best who ever put on a uniform as the measuring stick.

I can think of a few QB's who "got it" in their first year or two: Brady, Roethlisberger, Palmer, ...

Others never get it.
