[Tippett] was asked, since he wore both helmets, whether he preferred Pat Patriot or the Flying Elvis logo. "If I had to pick," Tippett said after hemming and hawing, "I just have love for the old Pat Patriot. He just looks like a rugged dude. I would go down a dark alleyway with him any day."

gleaned from the network which shall not be named.

So do I, for the same reasons.

Flying Elvis is the slickest and in my mind the best logo in the league.

I stepped away from my Pats fan hood and looked at the entire league to determine that as well. I god damn love our uniform and logo.

Me too, I never did like the flying Elvis. I also like the old uni's better after seeing them in a piece about Tippet' playing days..

Please, I never want to see those loser uniforms again. I shudder at the thought of them wearing those throwback uniforms again, a major jinx!!

It is funny how people long for uniforms in which the Patriots stunk for years over uniforms in which we are the modern day dynasty. Mysterious indeed.

Regardless of that, I think Flying Elvis looks far cooler.

The old uniforms are classic. You can update them without making the Pats look like an expansion team. Sure, you naturally associate the new uniform with winning, but that's the only reason it looks acceptable. The actual look of the new logo is terrible on face value though, and if Pat Patriot had been kept the whole way through nobody would think this way. You could have the ugliest possible logo imaginable and if the team wearing it were dominant it'd look "cool," but that doesn't mean it actually is. If BB and Brady had never come along, but the Pats still had the logo they do today, the vast majority of people would think it looks stupid, because it does. Trying to bury a team's history by giving them a new look because they were less than successful is just an illusion. And an all time great like Andre deserves better.

I don't like the Flying Elvis uniform because it's associated with winning. I like it because it looks ******* bad ass compared to almost every other uniform in the league.

Runners Up:
Jaguars (blacks)
Dallas (whites)
Steelers

My favorite Uniforms are the ones that remind you that the league has a history.

Green Bay
Pittsburgh
Colts (yeah I know)

None of them have been significantly changed and none of them look dated. The ones that end up looking dated are the ones that try too hard to look "futuristic" and "cool."

I agree completely.

I almost listed the Colts and the Steelers, but I decided to stick with uniforms that look bad ass and aren't just bad ass because they're old.

Flying Elvis is a much cheaper image to reproduce than Pat Patriot. End of story.

I liked the old uniforms because they prominently featured the color red. My theory is that the Giants upset Dallas, Green Bay, and New England because they were wearing red.

In Sports, Red Is Winning Color, Study Says

I like the fact that there is no one singular style to NFL uniforms. In fact, I'd like to see some teams expand on that and become more radical - isn't it time for a bold new Detroit Lions uniform? On one side there are the uniforms and logos that can be described as either classic or boring, depending on your point of view, such as the Browns, Packers, Steelers, Colts, and Raiders. Then there are more innovative uses of color and design such as the Jaguars, Ravens, Panthers and Bucs.

Although I don't cringe at the sight of a red uniform or Pat Patriot, I certainly accept them as a long time fan. Even if those teams didn't win a championship, I fondly recall some of the very good teams that were around then and those good times - rather than focus on the negativity of the losses when I see those logos and unis. And likewise when I see flying Elvis, I remember some great games rather than a Bledsoe turnover or Parcell's departure.

Now if there is a team I'd like to see change, I can think of two. First is the Cardinals. If nothing else, if I was an Arizona fan, wouldn't I want to get rid of that bad luck logo? And what does a Cardinal have to do with Arizona? Change the nickname, change the logo, change the uniform. If you're lucky, you might get to change the ownership while you're at it.

The other is the Redskins. Not to turn this into a political discussion, but how in the world do you defend keeping that name? Sorry, but "traditional" is not a good enogh reason. On top of that the team uniform is bland and boring (as is the 49ers similar colors.) Though changing both of those things at the same time would probably cause the Redskins fans/lawyers/lobbyists/season ticket holders to begin congressional hearings calling for the ouster of Roger Goodell as the commissioner of the NFL as well as forcing Dan Snyder to sell the Redskins.

Hey, that doesn't really sound so bad, does it?

Some awefully good teams and great players wore those 'loser' uniforms... I don't really care for the old red uniforms so much, but the old Pats helmet was a classic. I wish they would bring it back.

I am indifferent to this subject aside from one historical point; nothing, but nothing, could get 20-something me pumped up like the color of the old jerseys. Made me think of the vast quantities of blood soon to be (all too seldom! :( )forcibly loosed from the enemy MWUAHAHAHAHAHAH

one reason more to like Andre Tippett

Pat Patriot is number 1

I love how people jump through hoops to prove with a study what has been so thoroughly disproven by the actual practice. After all, if "study shows in sports, red is winningest color," we can just do a study more germane to New England football and declare "Study shows that for New England Patriots, real dark blue is winningest color."

It baffles me that anybody could prefer the old unis, and thank God, they'll never be brought back, except on nostalgia days. I have a certain affection for Pat Patriot, but it surprises me how often you see that logo among the icons here, and even the memorobilia still sold for the team.

I would EXPECT some nostalgia, but I would think the pure unadulterated poor design of that original logo, and the original uniform, would have helped the transition process.

Like the other guy here who called them "loser" uniforms, I see the old logo and think of Earl Campbell stomping all over us, or an offensive lineman scoring a TD on us in the SB (by the way THAT is the source of my having no sympathy for whiners who don't want Vrabel scoring on them today,) or I think of losing 52-0 to the Miami Dolphins. I think of those decades of wondering if we could squeek into the playoffs, or on good years, thinking what a great run it is to win the division 3 years running or something.

You can say "classic" until you're blue in the face. I still think boring. I'm in my 40s, and I don't think "ooooh the league has a history" when I see the Colts' uniforms, I think "so let's see you guys play Villanova this week, right?"

They look dated and static. Of course, as we all know, fans will always love the past, even if the present is better. Somewhere in Broncosland, there are fans who wish the dumb looking horse poking out of the "D" is better than the mean cyberhorse. There are probably even fans who wish the goofy cartoon horse that preceded that one would come back. Hell, I've seen people on here using the three-cornered hat logo as an avatar. Or should I say avatard.

It's 2008 people... Pat Patriot is a nice statement that you really really swear to God watched the team before they were good, and I suspect that's a secret motive for public love of Pat Patriot ("look at me, I'm not a bandwagon guy!") There's history of course, and loyalty, blah blah blah. But from the standpoint of what looks good, the old unis just don't.

Stick with the Current logo and leave Pat for the merchandise!

I did like the Pat Patriot but if you were a fan during that era, most of the memories are bad. So I'll stick wit the Flying Elvis as most of the memories are good ones.

I missed your little guy peeing on the opposing teams logo gif, PATSNUTme. Good to see it back.

As far as logos, they are both Patriot logos so they both work for me. Whichever the Kraft's sell, I will most likely buy. Except for the silver jersey...that idea needs to go back to the drawing board.
