i think it such a selfish move by him to take away all the coverage of the HOF weekend and HOF game whatever it may mean to interject himself into the news. Not to mention he is flying on the packers family night practice.I used to like theguy a lot but i now feel it was because the media potrayed him to be the 'everyman'. He is nothing like that.

Agreed...this is uncomfortable to watch unfold.

I posted that story a few minutes ago, here in the orig. thread with some comments.

SO, why didn't the commissioner wait until tomorrow??

What was Favre supposed to do - at this point he cannot win, but neither can the Packers.

If he takes the money he is a sell out. If he returns he is coming back to where they don;t want him.

The packers have decided to make Rogers their guy, right or wrong - get Favre off your team - trade him quickly or release him, just end the distraction already. I said it on 7/11 and I still say it today.

Green Bay - just get rid of him already and be confident in your decision and all that comes with it.

i side with team right now but agree ,their approach has been of an organization scared of a player who they think can hurt them if he joins the vikings. They shouldve let him go and do what he wants.
As BB did with kosar., he had such a severe backlash but no one points out that kosar really wasnt so successful after he released him.Same with bledsoe. If you believe favre is done , let him go. Dont waste your time and energy on him (although i dont mind that they are sticking it to him and bas cially that he cant get what he wants all the time)
Another of those media creations as peter king says that it would be foolish of ted thompson to trade favre a 3 time MVP within the division. when will these writers realize that a) he isnt the same player and b) as belichick says , lot of players change teams every yr. We cant control where everyone goes.
Let Favre and deal with him for 2 games. If you think you arent competent to gameplan and win 2 games against 1 player whoever he maybe then you shouldnt be coaching/playing.

Blaming Favre for the timing of the Ommissioner's reinstatement is absurd. Shall we blame Favre for the Jewish/Arab conflict in the Middle East while we're at it?

Yawn. I am beyond bored with this saga.

Favre and the Packers need to compromise and meet in the middle. Favre wants to play again (and for a division rival), and the Packers don't want him to play again period. Solution: The Packers let him play, and Favre gets traded to a team he approves that isn't within the division. They both need to give up something and they both need to accept that. we all see the solution but they're both so stuck up to cave in.

The problem with that is that he's still a reasonably valuable commodity, they hold his rights, and they should be allowed to pursue a trade. But so far, Favre has made it clear that he would only accept a trade within the Packers' division. WTH?

Well, he certainly hasn't helped over there......

You do realize the Packers asked Favre for a list of teams he was willing to accept a trade to a month ago right? He refused to give one.

They can't meet in the middle because Favre won't let them. There are 31 in the NFL. The Packers will probably trade him to 28 of them. He appears only willing to go to 1.

"I still want to play in this division for obvious reasons, which I made clear to management. If they won't let me play in Green Bay, let me play against you. That's where I am.''
- B.L. Favre

Ridiculous.

Agree; its not Favres fault the Commish sat on this for days (even though the Commish has no business getting involved).

The Packers should be happy about this: They either get a starting qb; or they get to trade him and pick up a draft pick. I'm not sure why they're trying to buy their way out of this situation.

And if he goes to a division rival; who cares. They end up taking away a draft pick from their rival so it all evens out (short vs long)

Favre Reinstated
If Favre goes to the Jets, I'll respect him more
Packers' $20M offer to stay retired may be best
Jets hold serious talks about Favre
Glazer on Favre fiasco
Jets seek permission to talk to Favre
Should the Patriots get Favre?
Good Curran article on Lord Favre. Bashed his royalness
The real reason why Favre want to return for another season
The greatest thing about Favre
Don Banks also goes after Favre
OT: Favre is a real Prima Donna
ESPN: Favre in talks with Packers over comeback

Can we stop making multiple Favre threads and keep all the news compiled in this one?

Today he's reinstated, tomorrow he has "serious talks" with other teams, the next day he'll be considering going to camp again, the next day he'll think about retiring once again, blah, blah, blah.

Because although they all relate to favre, they are not all the same discussion. When you have a single 1000-post thread with 8 discussions at the same time, it is impossible to follow. Plus adding a brand new thread to a huge conglomerate thread only means the new thread is totally lost.

Nothing wrong with different discussions on the same player or event.

And if he goes to a division rival; who cares.
If Samuel had gone to the Jets or Phins, people would be going beserk. Division rivals do matter.

For the packers, they are looking at Minnesota coming into Lambeau the first game of the year.

If you were a fan in 2003, you know what this can do. Football is more than playing my stat sheet against your stat sheet, and many things affect the outcome of games.

If the Packers have any brains, and remember how a crappy Bills team with the controversial acquisition of Milloy allowed them to dominate the team that went 14-2 and won the superbowl that year, they will NOT allow Favre to go to the Vikes.

Unfortunate, but the schedule precludes that trade.

It's all part of one continuing story. When there's a new update daily making a thread for each update just doesn't make sense, when you can simply post in the other thread and discuss the latest development until the next part of the story arrives.

Having 13 Brett Favre threads, all which have led up to the same outcome on a New England Patriots board makes this place feel like a mini-ESPN lately.

But whatever, it's not like I have to click on the threads, lol. Just my suggestion.

Why don't you just let the mods do their job?

Think there's a lot of Favre threads here? It could be a whole lot worse. Check out this Tampa Bay Bucs fan forum; there must be over a hundred separate Favre threads on that site. I imagine some of the Vikings, Jets and Packer sites have probably been obliterated with multiple Favre threads as well.

Oh, it gets better . . . the Pack is now going to have an open competition for the starting QB position.

I feel so f'in' sorry for Aaron Rodgers.
