I will start adding real names but for now I will stick to generalities. If anyone can list the players with PS eligibility that would be appreciated.

8 spots

1 G/T swing player
1 C/G swing player
1 DT/DE

All players below would have special teams ability and would be able to essentially take over the 50-53rd roster spots in case of an injury.
1 WR
1 Safety
1 LB
1 CB
1 TE

It makes no sense to me to talk about building the PS without first talking about the roster. In fact, I suggest the PS should be considered PART of the roster. At the end of the roster, players are not fighting for positions so much as being able to contribute on special teams. You could have a LB competing with a RB, for instance. Choosing the guys that give the best chance of winning could wind up with 6 WRs, or 5 RBs, which might mean you are thin at LB, in which case I would try to construct a PS that offers depth at places where the roster is thin.

I agree..the Practice Squad will depend a lot on the roster...as if any position might be a bit thin, the PSQd will make up for that. Also, injuries will be a factor as well...but there are many possibilities.

Let me start off by saying no drafted player from our team will clear waivers to make it to the PS. The only names I can come up with in this decade are Ethan Kelly and P.K. Sam to be drafted and make it to the PS. Slater would be the only guy I could see that happening to as teams might not be interested in a guy without a position.

This would be a guess:

C-G Dan Connolly
DT/DE Chris Norwell
WR C.J. Jones
S Matt Dillard
RB BenJarvis Green-Ellis
TE Jon Stupar
LB UDRFA or UDRFA claimed from another team
CB UDRFA or UDRFA claimed from another team

To tell the truth I think at least half the PS players we will hear about are not even on the roster.

S - Spann
CB - Richardson
QB - Gutierrez
OLB - Redd
TE -DeVree

DT - Thomas (I don't think he is elligible)

Add a few more bodies to the mix... likely O Line.

No SThomas is not eligible...speed dial though.....
QB--Gutierrez RB--Green-Ellis TE---DeVree/Stupar although leaning TD DL-TAdams (they need some depth if they carry 6 esp if LSmith is injured still) LB--Redd CB-Richardson
S--Spann, Dillard...an OL yes...but who..they need an OT...(I would say they bring in a tackle cut Connolu who joins) so???

I would have at least 3 OL's on that PS if not 4 of them ... start developing for next year right now.

C/G Dan Connolly and WR CJ Jones both made the top 53.

But one of them could be bumped to the PS after week 1 when Faulk comes back.

I thought this was an exercise to build your practice squad for tomorrow and to start the season not one for down the line. I doubt the Pats will release Connolly with only 8 OL on the roster and Neal and Ross 6-8 weeks from playing.

OK...6 of the 8..ni really all one had to do was look at the roster and see what positions needed more players and see if one of the younger players filled that...I bet Gutierrez is talking with teams...IR doesn't wish to return...A TE now doesn't make sense with Pociask's arrival..
