Great idea but too forced to be really funny.

Poor Kev should never be allowed to publish while sober. :(
I didn't mean to be harsh. It was very creative, but it was a tricky concept to pull off, and it didn't quite hit the mark.

I do a little writing myself for magazines, and I could never make something like he tried to do work.

Better to reach for the stars and not quite make it than to be be satisfied with your feet on the ground.

Or something like that :D

I didn't take your comments as harsh, more like one buddy telling another to go back to standard pick-up lines at the bar and not to use chancy ones with the lady kickboxers.

Oh man, if this had been real, I would have had a Cheshire cat smile on my face. But then again, we'd probably have "Mediagate" on our hands with fans on other message boards saying we ran up the curse words on the media.

Perhaps the master of the outrageous metaphor could give him a lesson or two. ;)

(Actually, I thought it was a pretty good article -- but it would indeed have been funnier if the author had let his hair down a bit more. Can a columnist allow Jack Daniels against tax?)

Yes, under highway tolls, the IRS is onto the white-out dodge used by past ink-stained wretches.

I thought it was pretty well done - and also agree with you - though I don't think Kevin felt he'd be getting a  response from this...

The concept of course is great - we all recognize the canned responses as well - knowing that what the players and coaches think, and what they say, are two very different things

We all do it ourselves - some call it diplomacy. I know when my wife asks if a particular dress makes her ass look fat, the last thing I'm going to say is "no, its not the dress, its the fat that makes your ass look fat" even if that's what the true answer is. (And let's not even broach the subject of whatever "lies" she feeds me!)

I'd encourage him to keep going with his list - there's no shortage. Asking players about their injuries must really get the eyeballs rolling.

I'd be more interested in toungue in cheek reactions of the reporters who know they're being given a line - and have a good idea of what the player "translation" actually is.

But overall, given the drivel of the same old reports rehashed each pre-season, trying to do something new with the same old canned phrases, I definately enjoyed Kevin's take.
