Practice observations: Kicking it old school
Posted by John Tomase at 12:31 pm
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick noted this morning that he has turned back the clock nearly a decade for this year’s training camp. The team has been in pads every day working on fundamentals in the hopes that once the season starts, the coaching staff can concentrate on game planning.
“We’re kind of going back to an older school way like we did in 2000 and 2001,” Belichick said. ” We’re spending a lot of time on fundamentals and individual technique, all of the things we can practice in pads, especially the running game, in the early part of camp. Then you hope you can carry it through the course of the season.”
