So far I am still reading every camp report and following the team very closely. But overall I think it is the least excited about the start of the season I have been in a while. Maybe I spent too much energy on the draft and I am sure it will change once the season starts but so far everything is just ho-hum..

How is everyone else feeling?

I'm excited about Mayo, BM and the potential for a rejuvenated Seymour. The jury is still out on the rookie cb's.

And I can't wait to see what the chefs BB and Capers are cooking up with all the ingredients if it is going to be a more aggressive defense.

I haven't read anything ecstatic about CJ yet. Hopefully he turns it on quickly, time is ticking on his Patriot career.

I don't know. Last year had a media circus around Moss and all the new marquee additions (Welker, Thomas, Stallworth) so it was a lot more going on. Otherwise, I guess I don't see this as different than any other year myself.

Hot. I've got the windows open and everything but the air coming in is even warmer..

I'm interested, like everybody else to see the likes of Mayo, other new boys and to see if CJ can have a season this year. As we progress towards to season the excitement will soon start to build like it always does. Compared to last off season this one was always going to seem quiet.

Last year was a media circus. Why not look at it as "how strong a team do we have"?

By that measure, it might be the best ever IMO. We have young linebackers!!!!

We haven't had an all pro CB since Law (except Asante and he was a 4th rounder. What I'm trying to say is I think wheatley's going to be great (just a feeling watching vids) and we have a career starter coming in plus another rook and two vets. I don't think it will be a weakness, though it might be a while to see where the strength is. We only had 3 corners last year.

Safeties, two young starters rotate with Rodney. Looks good to me.

RB? Maroney showed his toughness finally, Morris should be back and we picked up Jordan. Very strong on paper.

Healthy Chad over Stallworth? We'll see.

D-line, should be healthier Seymour, otherwise awesome. (passing game awesome, in case I have to mention it):D

Two healthy TEs?. I see them deemphasizing this position. 3rd tight end could be a waiver guy if injuries hit.

Where are the holes? I'm not crazy about Hobbs as #1, but I think in ensemble, they're strong.

Oline they're trying to bolster. The core is still young if Neal's healthy.

(I know what you're saying!)

I love the way that the Patriots don't hype the off-season. It's not like they have to sell season tickets! So the message is just: we'll come in and work as hard as we can and see what we've got at the end of it. Works for me!

i am more excited this offseason than i was last offseason.

i think we will have a better team next year, particularly on defense. i've been criticized quite heavily by people on this board with my suggestion we need to go back to what won us the super bowl in 2004 - better running game and a physical defense.then people on this board said i was out of my mind because we were one fluke play from winning last year. lo and behold, you read the training camp reports, they all say that the patriots are focusing heavily on their running game and on defense. yesterday in fact, the defense outplayed the offense. if the defense is outplaying our offense, that is good news.

Last year was a veteran roster with one real rookie addition, and suspense over how Moss would play... and he basically missed the entire preseason. I was excited for the season, but the preseason was kind of a drag.

This preseason is the opposite: Mayo, D. Thomas, C Jackson, Crable, etc., young players who can contribute, are being developed. So for me, the preseason is actually more interesting. The development of young players is the lifeblood of a team, and I am definitely pumped and jacked.

I'm feeling really good. My only real concern is the right side of the OL with Neal unknown along with a potential Kaczur suspension. I do think we'll miss Samuel's INTs but, especially with a top DB coach, I don't think we'll have any worse coverage in general from our DBs. Other than that I'm all systems go with excitement to get this thing going.

i think fernando bryant is going to surprise a lot of people next year.

the right side of the OL line is a concern. I think we should try and get Shawn Andrews. The eagles took him off the training camp roster because he's having issues with the management/coaching staff. he would fit in nicely but i'm not sure if he's experienced at right guard or right tackle and how much money he makes.

I think Bryant will be fine and his coverage will at least be as good as Samuel's. Howver nothing in his past suggests he'll pick off a bunch of passes and I do think that part of Samuel's game will be missed.

it really depends on what kind of coverage they're going to play. it would seem the addition of capers would mean more press or man, moving away from zone asante excelled at

I was so pumped for the start of TC that I actually dreamed about it the night before it started... sorta: I dreamed that I was attending a summer football camp held by the Patriots for anybody who wanted to walk on and try to make the team. BB put me in at full back to lead block for the rb and I knew that at 5-11 and 190lbs that is definitely not the job for me, but I decided that I was going to hit whoever got in my way as hard as I could to show that I was determined to make the team. Then I woke up.

There are a lot of story lines and camp battles that I'm interested in this year, and I can't wait to see how things play out. I'm particularly excited about the new linebackers, the new CBs and Dom Capers, the prospect of healthy TEs, etc. I think there's a lot to look forward to.
