Re: Adam Schefter reports Pats sign LaMont Jordan

That's exactly what I was thinking.

If they did sign him, they need to make room for him on the 80man roster... so who goes? Please not our buddy Lavdrim "Lav" Bauta again... :)

Your probably right, Bauta will be given his walking papers again but we are short on the OL so maybe they go in another direction.

Re: Adam Schefter reports Pats sign LaMont Jordan

I could see a scenario where Jordan replaces Faulk, think of it as my surprise cut pick.

Don't say that. Don't even think it.

Re: Adam Schefter reports Pats sign LaMont Jordan

I like this move. A healthy Jordan is certainly a better option at RB than Evans or Eckel. So our top 4 are basically Maroney, Morris, Jordan, Faulk. Faulk being the default 3rd down back. I like it. Evans probably sticks in the 5th spot for his part time FB abilities and ST abilities.

Suprised would be too clean a word. Although we have seen some suprising cuts over the years, this one would be a definate head scratcher-profanity driven. I can't see another back performing Faulks duties quite like he can do it. Bar none I don't think there is a better RB that fulfills his duty quite like Kevin Faulk does. Replaceable, but not to the full extent of what he does for the team.

Re: Adam Schefter reports Pats sign LaMont Jordan

Quite a few roster spots for running back. I wonder where we will make the additional cuts?

I think Evans might be listed as a FB.

Don't forget - Jordan has his own history of injuries.

Not a fantasy owners dream by any means.:} Fortunately it's all about championships in New England.

Although Jordan is a great receiver out of the backfield his blocking is suspect, Faulk is very solid in that area. So no way this happens but I can see him pushing Morris to ST's and further down the depth chart. Why don't we wait and see though, let's actually play some games 1st.

Nice, Lamont isn't bad. If he's healthy, i wouldn't be surprised at all if he passed up Morris on the depth chart.

Ok, lets wait for the games. Maybe they all make it, with the way the right side of the line looks our RBs may take a beating.

Bauta stays!! It was WR Robert Ortiz who got cut.

Re: Adam Schefter reports Pats sign LaMont Jordan

Maroney is the team's #1 back. Faulk is the #2/3rd down back. Evans is the fullback. Jordan is likely vying with Morris for the #3 RB position, with the loser (I'd expect that to be Jordan unless Morris gets hurt again) or Eckel hitting the road.

This move looks like a good way to have a veteran in training camp so that Maroney and Morris can be rested while the O-line gets worked to death until Brady's "five layers" learn how to consistently run block in the zone-blocking system.

That's ridiculous. Kevin Faulk is one of the most valuable players on the team. This chorus comes up periodically, best to smack this B.S. down ASAP.

And every year he gets older, he is a great Patriot and I hope he stays. I just wouldn't be totally stunned if he were cut.

Besides if every unabashed Internet rumor had to be levelled by reality what kind of fun would that be?

I think it's still very much up in the air whether Jordan (or any other veteran RB the Pats could have signed) will make the team. The Pats have never really carried around a 4th RB that isn't also a FB. If Maroney, Faulk, and Morris are all healthy, Jordan won't have any role with this football team.

I would be totally surprised. He's a completely different type of back than Morris or Jordan, and is a staple of this team's third down offense.

Works for me, I like the guy. Best hands I have ever seen from a RB.

Prediction (barring injury): Jordan or Eckel get walking papers sooner than later.

Well then you're just not paying attention. I think the vast majority of Patriots fans would be TOTALLY and COMPLETELY and in all ways STUNNED if he were cut. Clutch/productive-wise, Kevin Faulk is a top 5 WEAPON on the Patriots. There's Brady, Moss, Welker, Faulk, Maroney. Period. (And on a per-play basis, it's not in that order.)
