espn will turn this into another one of the evil dr. belichick's elaborate schemes to cheat

I don't get the feeling anyone around here wishes Asante ill health for taking what the Eagles offered - but this is certainly better than having re-signed him and having him injured.

Seemed like the early reports were that he was having a tough time learning the Eagles defensive system too.

The good news for the Eagles is they stil have Lito Sheppard, don't they? Of course they've got a ton of cap money locked into both of these guys too.

Yes-however, you take out either Samuel, Brown, or Sheppard, their corner depth is NIL.

Jim Johnson had high hopes that he could utilize all 3 in his nickel/3-3-5 packages, where he can put Brown in the slot and call more exotic blitzes.

I still find it hard to believe that the Eagles will keep these 3 high priced DB's. They are probably hoping that some team loses a starting corner to season ending injury so that they come a calling to the Eagles for Sheppard.

This is not a bad idea on their part-be PATIENT, and there's at least a 50/50 chance an act of desperation could fall in their laps.

FYI-Gary Cobb just reported that Drew Rosenhaus just came to the Eagles' TC facility IN a rental car w/ FL license plates. Cobb thinks DR is there to try to convince Eagles' management to give Lito a raise, especially considering Samuel could miss some time with his injury.

Any word on how he was fairing in Eagles training camp?

Dunno-but on that play he was injured, he was covering Greg Lewis.

Yeah-GREG FREAKIN' LEWIS! It's not like this guy is a Hall of Famer, nor a decent #3 option to boot.

Obviously-the Eagles' coaching staff KNOWS Samuel's deficiencies.

He was probably going for a highlight reel INT while blowing coverage. I don't wish him ill but could care less that he's gone.

they still have lito sheppard. Not a bad fall back plan :)

Re: Asante hurt today

Let's see Branch, Givens, now Asante and I'm 100% sure Gay will get hurt soon. Not wishing it happens but Gay always gets hurt.

With Mike MacKenzie likely to start the season on PUP, the best corner the Saints have is old-man Aaron Glenn.

So if Gay goes down, their D is going to be ******.

Apparently the Front Office does not: "He wanted $10 million per year. In the end, $9.5 million will have to be enough."

You feel for the guy but I'm just glad he's no longer a Patriot, so some of us probably don't care as much. As long as he's not picking off Manning.:D

I don't think anyone is wishing Asante ill. It's just that if players who leave here are less than successful, the value of future free agents will be less. This will help us retain the pieces of the puzzle.

I think players are also affected by this phenomenon. If players think the coach/system makes them better, then they are likely to take a discount to play here.

So, break a leg departing patriots ;)

Uh oh, a hamstring strain.

We all remember how bad that hurt Moss last season.

2nd time it happened though-he tweaked his left one in OTAs, and now it's his right one.

Pt being that for someone who's proven to be one of the most durable players in the league, the early goings aren't exactly a good sign.
