Jets seek permission to talk to Favre

I hope not. All the Jets need is a somewhat capable quarterback to be the least bit competitive again. Here's to hoping Favre is Tampa bound.

Please do.

An immobile, wild, or as they say gunslinging, QB behind the Jets porous offensive line will only equate to confidence for our secondary.

Eh, I want to play it down, but I can't. I'd much rather see Pennington or Clemens behind center than Favre.

if he goes to the jets ESPN will be even more towards NE because their beloved player is on the team which the pats love to hate. not mention all the circus with BB/mangini good vs evil blah blah

Oh please, this would be fantastic. Favre isn't enough to put the jets over the top so it just hamstrings them for a few years and gets them a little more pub. They still will lose both times to us. Awesome. Please do it.

Favre would immediately improve that team, which isn't something I want (not that it frightens me, either, I simply prefer a division full of suck).

Favre in diarrhea green and white would be entertaining, though, simply for the fact that the New York media blows and the fans would turn on him without hesitation for any perceived mistake.

getting rid of Jason Taylor?......then bringing the hopes and dreams of Kellen Clemmens crushing back to Earth....?

all we need now is for Miami to sign Ryan Leaf...

Favre would retire AGAIN before going to the Jets.

I thought his royal highness wanted to go to a contender?

I am against any move that will make a division opponent stronger, however the reason farve regained some of his old form last year was that he actually worked out and prepared for the season. I saw a lot of Farve quotes last year about all of the time "extra" time he spent watching video ect. That extra time he is referring to is just the normal amount of time guys like TB and PM put in every year.

Somehow I don't think Farve has been living in the gym all offseason or preparing to play an NFL season. My guess wherever he ends up he reverts to the Farve of the past five years ( you know 3 tds 4 Ints).

But all that will be fine as long as he throws a jump hook pass or lefthanded toss to the RB that way Chris Berman can give him a WHOOP on NFL Primtime.

And how exactly would the JEST afford the remainder of Lord Favre's contract?

I know Favre is better than anything that the Jets currently have. But right now, the Jets fans have no hope when it comes to the Pats-Jets rivalry. I think if they got Favre, theses fans would get a renewed confidence only to have it dashed to a million pieces once we blow them out. I guess what I'm saying is I want the Jets fans to suffer as much as possible.

Brett Favre Suck's! i would love for the Jets to do that dumb move. Favre would make Ellis Hobbs look like an Elite CB. Playing them two times a year would be two easy wins. Favre is DONE! guys stick s folk in him.

I'm happy with the Jets as they are although the idea of them trading a decent draft choice for an old guy is a little appealing. I'm assuming the Packers want at least a #3.

If iwas Dumb Favre i would be making calls to Minnesota or Detriot trying to get them over the Top in the weaker NFC!

Favre probably puts the Jets in the playoffs and gives that team a chance in any game against the Patriots. Why anyone who's a Patriots fan would want to see Favre on the Jets is a mystery to me.

GB isn't going to trade him there, especially Minnesota. That's why they won't release him.

I don't know. Favre with the Jets could be the Favre who started for the Packers in 2005 and 2006 (he threw in those years for a combined 38 TDs and 47 INTs with a 70.9 and 72.7 passer ratings respectively). I don't know if Favre could fit in the Jets' system which is different than what he is used to and the Packers have a better receiving corp.

If Favre came into the Jets in February or March, I would be far more concerned. But Favre is going to have to get used to the offense and get in sync with his receivers if he moves now.

I think the best thing that acquiring Favre would be that it would end Mangini's career after this season. If the Jets get Favre and the Jets don't get into the playoffs with their weak schedule and all their offseason acquistions, I don't know how Woody Johnson could keep Mangini unless they went 10-6 and still didn't get into the playoffs.

Divisional competition aside, I think that would be hysterical. Farve hasn't had to learn a new offense for how many years? And he'd be heading to a team with grumbling veterans, tons of new pieces to put together, and a hard-ass coach younger than he is? Toss in the New York media and you have awesome theater, bordering on circus.

Dude Favre is a Gun Slinger...he likes to connect on the Big Pass plays Deep. Which WR's on the Jets can get open consistently on the fly? still waiting? The Jets just don't have the Speed on Offense to suit Favre...if Favre accepts this Trade he's going strictly for the $$$$. Brett Favre was a Great QB, he's not that anymore. As somebody said the Jets are not a CONTENDA!:D
