So tonight on ESPN they aired a segment on the Patriots 2008 Training Camp. Of course they bring up the SB loss and compare the Pats to the Bruins in how they cannot win...

Then of course, like on queue, they bring up Spygate...and the waste of that 10 month fiasco.

Then they go on to the segment of a few players giving their insight into what they are feeling and how they all have moved on....

It seems to me that ESPN will never let go of last season. I know it was hard on a lot of fans but from what I have been reading recently, we are all looking forward to this upcoming season and cannot wait to see our team kick some *****.

GO PATS....

EMBRACE THE HATE IN 08.....

Re: Why EPSN......why...

did you also notice that when they were doing the piece on Rod Smith's retirement they were showing clips of Smith making catches and scoring TDs against the patriots and no other team? Can't stand trey dingo.

Re: Why EPSN......why...

Yup....we are their Trump card. Whenever its a slow sports news day, they pull something up about us and air it like its new.....god i hate these people....

Re: Why EPSN......why...

It was the first time i watched ESPN in a while. As soon as i saw that segment i remembered why i stopped watching.

Re: Why EPSN......why...

I hate to say this, but most of the national media covering the pats camp will probably focus on two things - 1.) the Super Bowl loss and whether the Pats can rebound and 2.) Spygate. If you just accept it, it will make your life easier. Even the theme with the local media today was how the players felt about rebounding from the Super Bowl loss.

Also, ESPN is famous for when they are showing a clip of a player only taking clips from one game. It is either they are lazy or don't want to pay the NFL for licensing clips from multiple games. That means it could be just dumb luck they chose the Pats game or that was the game they could find the fastest with the most highlight worthy clips of Rod Smith.

As much as I would love to bash ESPN, I don't know if there is much of a case here to talk about their outright bias vs. the Pats.

You can start by dropping the "embrace the hate" nonsense, because that just perpetuates what we all want to just go away. I, for one, am going to have little patience for any mention of "spygate" and associated crapola from last year. This is a new season and a new team.

And f*ck ESPN.

I did not see it but it sounds like a good example of why I do not watch espn anymore. I made the mistake a few weeks ago of watching a little sportscenter as I was flipping around and they were going to break talking about an nfl preview and as they go to break they showed a clip of a fan holding up an 18-1 sign. I was reminded why I gave up on that awful network. It has been years since epsn was worth a damn, but now it is a total joke of a network. Tom Brady made my whole week when he ripped them in that interview a while back, telling espn exactly what they are. BB was also right to stick it to Tom Jackson in Jan 04. f*** espn

exactly why I ignore almost all sports media these days

Re: Why EPSN......why...

The only time ... and the absolute only time I watch ESPN is when they have a sporting event ... otherwise ... what a waste of time ... it's all about the $$$ ... it's the MTV for sporting nerds & goobs.

I didn't notice that......because I watch them as little as I can and mostly only for live sports and not there other bull crap.

Re: Why EPSN......why...

I haven't watched ESPN since the C's won the NBA title and dont intend to during the football season.

Re: Why EPSN......why...

I thought I'd seen it all, and then I found this. Apparently Jets fans think that Trey Wingo is a Pats homer! Wow, can't be much fun when even your fellow fans hate you.

Jets fans are the STUPIDEST. The most moronic fanbase, hands down no question.

I used to look forward to MNF but now that espn has it I do not watch very often. the pats only have one MNF game this year and that is good. I loved how the nfl stuck it to espn when they got mnf, espn spent a ton of money to get it and the nfl still gave them the crap games they were getting on sunday night. LOL

Lets not forget that a few months ago Brady basically called ESPN trash. So I am sure that is another reason why they will continue to beat up on the Pats. Like the most of you, I just dont watch it anymore.

Re: Why EPSN......why...

Revel in the hate. Only the really good are really hated.

In the early 80s and early 90s, when we totally sucked, nobody even talked about the Patriots, who were at best the 3rd and maybe the 4th most popular team in Boston.

Enjoy the hate. You could be the Chiefs or Falcons or some other team that barely gets any air time at all. Think of the hate as jealousy and you'll be much happier. :D

Nonsense. Not only is it negative, it legitimizes ignorance and the ill-informed among opposing fans. The Patriots are not "outlaws and bad guys." This is a class organization -- not the Oakland Raiders.

I'm sorry, its the morning and I haven't woken up fully, but did you say they compared the Pats to the Bruins? Wha Wha WTF?

They compared the greatest franchise in sports today with the worst? Are you kidding me? What asshat ran with that angle?

ESPN has to hate New England in general... Anyone watch all the negative attitude Jon Barry brought up about the Celtics during the entire playoffs... I think he started praising us once during game 6 against the Lakers... During the final two minutes.

I remember being a kid going to a game against Atlanta during that dreaded ML Carr coached season where they won like two games. I think we scored like 8 points in one quarter, horrible game, but whenever Jon Barry touched the ball everyone (all ten people who stayed) in the Fleetcenter (I know it isn't called that anymore, but it was then) would boo... I guess he still holds a grudge against us dating back to the 1992 draft...
