USA Today lists 5 most intriguing RBs

I agree with Ricky Williams and Reggie Bush as two of the top guys you might think of as "hmmmm,I wonder what type of year they may have",Although I think Maroney who has been erratic at best during his first 2 campaigns should be considered as well since this might be a year where the Patriots go for more of a running game than in 2007.

My list would be ....

• 
  Reggie Bush - Put up tons of awesome stats and showed ability at USC which looked as if he might be a special pro player - not yet,but this might be the year with such a potent offense in N.O. and teams may play the pass more so than in recent years thus letting Bush find more room to run and he may catch a lot out of the backfield as well.

• 
  Laurence Maroney - Had a nice second half to last season after being left to a minimum with the strong passing game last year but I still have yet to see a real monster game from him (150 yards or more),especially against Elite teams like Indy,San Diego and Pittsburgh,Even If I were not a Patriots fan I would still put Maroney right on top of being one of the most intriguing RBs this season.

  Ricky Williams - I think the Miami offense will rely on the running game a lot and if Ronnie Brown falters in productivity we may see if Ricky still has anything left in his tank after returning from his vacation in 'jointropolis'

• 
  Frank Gore - Was injured a bit last season but had a healthy and monster year in 2006 with the niners,If he remains healthy it will be interesting to see if 2006 was just a one year wonder for Gore or will he be the next great rising superstar at RB

• 
  Willis McGahee - Did not show much last year as a Raven but as a Patriots fan seeing him twice a year I must say he was scary good at times and kept Buffalo in games with NE when he was at his best,If he on the downfall of his career or was last year just a bump in the road? - I do expect a year from McGahee that may put his right up there with the leaders at RB,especially since Baltimore does not have any real QB to create a respected passing game

What, you didn't watch the second game against the Dolphins last season?

I think Maroney is going to be one of the top RBs in the league this season, so he's on my list.

Adrian Peterson... if he has another huge year the Vikings could be one scary team.

Willis McGahee... I think Cam Cameron knows how to get as much as he can out of a RB. Look for McGahee to have a huge year.

Ronnie Brown... was one of the best backs last season before he messed up his knee. How will he come back and will he be as good without Cameron and with Ricky?

Michael Turner is the key to the Falcons season, in my opinion. If he's as good as a starter as he was as a backup it will take a lot of the pressure off of Ryan and further help a pretty good set of receivers in ATL.

If Adrian Peterson is on this list than shouldn't LT and Larry Johnson be on there as well?

Most of the list is guys who have some kind of side story and not just those who are great backs

Is Peterson not intriguing?

Both Tomlinson and Johnson have also had more than one season of greatness, which can't be said about Peterson.

150+ yards is nice but not if it takes him 30 carries to do it. There is only so much tread on a RB and I look forward to a long and productive career from Maroney. 150+ combined rushing yards from Maroney, Morris and Faulk works for me. Add in some more screens to Maroney this year (nobody ever accounts for him...dude can run for days) and that should be plenty to beat just about anyone.

Are you freaking nuts? - Do you judge a RBs success based on thier performance against a team that finished 1-15 and a defense ranked in the lower tier?

Try again,Either that was a joke or you are grasping for straws - A big game against Miami's front 7 is impressive? -HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!


Now seriously I want to see a dominating game,at least once by Maroney this year against a top team with an outstanding front 7 like San Diego,Seattle,Oakland or Pittsburgh (yes,Oakland does have a very good defensive front,they suck mainly because thier offense is just horrid) - and of course the offensive line has a big hand in the success as they are as much to blame for a poor running attack as well as they deserve to be complimented when the running game is doing well.

Yeah, that's about what I thought of both the USA Today list and the list someone else posted.

To be fair, the USA TOday list was much worse. Their list of five guys had 6 RBS, which included 2 busts, 3 guys who have yet to play a down in training camp, and petersen. I mean, nothing intriguing about guys who don't live up to potential, and ALL draftees are intriguing until they play. You can't tell the Ki-jana Carters fro the Terrell Davises until they play.

Thank God TC practice starts tomorrow and all these dumb threads and lists will die a quiet death.

You are the one who threw out the arbitrary "show me 150 yards and I'll be happy" BS. One hundred and fifty yards against anyone is impressive, regardless of opposition, especially when it's done on 14 carries.

Did you not watch the playoffs, either, as he had 122 yards against both the Jaguars and Chargers, both of whom have good defensive fronts.

And Oakland was a sieve last year. As bad as Miami, maybe even more so. They suck because they can't stop the run.
