Seriously, though:

Kaczur was originally charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail. He also was charged with going 76 mph in a 65 mph zone and driving with illegally tinted windows and a bad muffler.

Did you really expect him to have the book thrown at him?

In a husky voice, Kaczur uttered the word "guilty" in reference to the speeding charge. He was ordered to pay $355, a fine that included a $55 surcharge. His lawyer paid his client's fine and surcharge in cash with the judge pulling out money to help make change. The money was accepted by the court clerk, the judge's daughter-in-law, Janet Wolanin.

Rodneys issue had to do with something that would more directly affect the game, a performance-enhancing drug issue. The two issues are nowhere near the same thing.

I'm guessing BB and crew already had/have an idea of the punishment going into this. Just a stab, I'd say no games missed and a stint in the nfl rehab program.

Also, I don't personally have an issue with Kaczur's performance and it's pretty freaking cool that he comes from 20 minutes from here (and the home of Wayne Gretzky). But seriously, he'd play better if he was making some money. Seriously, bad muffler on his car AND his lawyer has to pay his fine? Kraft, give the poor bugger a raise, $7/hour is just not enough motivation!

I was referring to the lawyer paying the fees on the spot in cash and the judge fishing out change from his own wallet. Sounds like a scene from "Night Court" ...

Actually I hope for Nick's sake and for that of the Pats'- that he gets past whatever's ailing him (the initial injury that led to the Oxy abuse and whatever else may have gotten him to this point), and that he comes back
to the team drama-free and ready to play :woohoo:

A little job competition won't hurt either But Deus is right- it remains to be seen whether or not the ommish makes script drug abuse another one of his causes, or not. If he's hiring the military to oversee rule adherence, and gang experts to sniff out signals, then anything's possible. I'm not saying that would necessarily be a bad thing either because I find it hard to believe Nick's the only NFL player with this problem.

My girlfriend was prescribed this when she was 16 after scoliosis surgery and she died last year(7 years later) from it. So I know what I am talking about.....
But what is public knowledge now is that he had 200 pills, and one a day is the prescription level. Its hard to believe they were all for him(scripts are usually for about 30 pills), and it likely should have been trafficking......There is no way the commish let this guy walk, not with the problem that drug has caused the country. If he gets 4 games he is off easy, but I see more likely 8 games. Tell me you want to go through camp with him as your starter knowing this...... I would be surprised if he makes the opening day roster now the facts have come out. Wishing hard on drafting Albert even more.....

Is the prescription level any different between a 300 lbs athlete and a 100 lbs 16 year old girl?

I imagine if a man the size of Kaczur were hooked on this stuff after using it for pain relief, he'd be popping at least 2-3 a day. 3 months supply sounds reasonable, most prescription pain killer has a shelf life of a year or more.

People do drugs; if they're doing them recreationally and aren't hurting anyone (eg. doing it in front of their kids or in public) I'm neutral on the issue.

The tint laws in this state are kind of stupid (its okay to have a factory dark window; but aftermarket darkened windows or tined windows are illegal; and no windows is perfectly fine too); but he should've known better since illegally dark tint (or even legally dark tint) bring attention to the car and you dont want attention when you're speeding; and you want no attention when you're carrying drugs.

and a bad muffler.

This right here is the outrage. With his money, he should be driving a high end car thats always kept in near perfect shape.
