One more to go... Mr. Mayo

I'm going to say that Mayo will probably be signed within the next two days. Great news about Wheatley. I think that he's really going to do some damage with us.

Nice. Also nice...

Colts GM Bill Polian says he "could care less" if the team's draft picks don't sign in time for training camp.

This is original. "We haven't made any progress. None," he said. "If these players don’t want to sign because the union thinks our offers are too low or the agents are afraid to sign or whatever other excuses they use, it doesn’t matter to me." None of the Colts' nine picks are signed.

gotta love Polian... knucklehead

That just shows the guys we drafted are hard working team first care a great deal about playing football individuals.
Polians draft class not so much.

Dolts didn't have a first rounder right?

Exactly what I would have said last year if we didnt have Meriweather.......Their rookies arent competing for starting roles so the longer they hold out the less chance they make the team....the less chance they have at getting PAID. They will realize this soon, its a smart move if you dont need bodies.

Way to go out on a limb, Kontra. :D

Great News!:rocker::rocker::rocker:

Limb # 2 from this thread:

He is fast, has great hands, will bring many picks runs back kicks.....has all the tools. Will make us all forget about Assante.

We are going to REALLY like this guy..

"Wheatley, 23, played in 40 games with 28 starts for the University of Colorado over four seasons (2003-04, 2006-07). The 5-foot-9-inch, 183-pound cornerback recorded 156 tackles (124 solo), 1.5 sacks, 14 interceptions for 154 yards and two touchdowns, 31 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Wheatley also gained 1,350 yards on kickoff returns in his collegiate career. His 14 interceptions tied the second highest total in Colorado history, while his total of two interception returns for touchdowns was one shy of the school record. As a senior in 2007, Wheatley was a first-team All-Big 12 selection by the Associated Press and the league's coaches, starting 10 games and totaling five interceptions and 12 passes defensed. He became the first Colorado player in 25 years to record three interceptions in a game when he achieved the feat against Texas Tech."

With all the veteran competition at corner, and with Wilhite signed, I was never worried about this guy coming in late. Nonetheless, great news. One more to go, the big one.

Wheatley was my favorite pick (next to O'Connell), and once he gets into the system, gets a feel for team and for the NFL, jmo but I think he'll be outstanding. IIRC he's pretty bright as well.

I can't wait for this season, I really can't:D

Boy, I hope you're right! I can't wait to see how our secondary turns out this year. There's a lot of questions surrounding all the new faces - both veterans and rookies - and even some of the old faces, but also a lot of great talent and potential in that group of players. I think the addition of Dom Capers as the secondary coach will prove to be crucial in bringing everyone together into one cohesive unit.
