Clement will be coached up by DS to his optimum. Great depth signing and Kazcur insurance.................Not to mention he blocks out the sun and used to wear Green...........

He can swing to both tackle spots and also back up Matt, if Kaczur wasn't motivated by this latest fiasco, this will definaley lite a Bic under his backside.....

Junk. Camp fodder.

Leaving one spot for....Seau?????

The Jets felt Clement was so bad they felt it necessary to give $25 million so Damien Woody could play out of position at RT to replace him.

Clement is good insurance..Ross has a knee injury so he might be PUPed...so if Kaczur is out for a suspension or worse, he might be a reliable back up. The fact that he could play either tackle position is useful. Certainly it's a decent pickup.

Almost no chance either makes the team IMO

Clement has a shot. Don't count him out yet, there's a reason he's stuck in the league for 11 yrs. It's tough to find vet OT's with Clement's size and strength. He is a much better run blocker than pass blocker but his weakness is technique and DS will coach that up. He is the opposite of Ross, the other other vet OT we signed. Ross is athletic and versatile while Clement lacks foot quickness but is very powerful with long arms. Unlike Ross he does not have a good burst, foot quickness or change of direction skills. Ross is better in pass protection and can redirect and recover and he can play multiple positions. But Ross lacks power and strength for a RT so he may be moved to G and thus the necessesity to sign Clement especially with the Kaczur situation still looming.

Don't know anything about Clement but I wonder how much you can coach up a guy who's been in the league that long. I figure he is what he is (whatever that is).

Just like the Chargers thought that Harrison was finished as well?

We are a team of Jets castoffs again

This is a great post, yet one man's trash is still, and forever will be another man's treasure...........

I lived in Arizona and let me tell you Clement is awesome, plus my brother went to school at Louisiana-Lafayette and said he is a stand up guy. Mark my words, Patriot fans are going to love this guy.

Ok, none of that is true, I have never heard of him. My best guess is that he retires before training camp.

Yes, except Harrison is a Hall of Famer, and Anthony Clement was a weak link on the worst OL in the league last year and in a league where everyone is looking for OL help, he wasnt signed until July. But yea, other than that, the two situations are identical.

Theres no two ways to say this but I cant imagine Clement being anything to the Pats but an end of the bench o-line men. Clement may be the worst RT in football, the man is 6'8" 330 but plays like a feather weight.

he'll be this years o.l. retiree. my prediction is day 3 of training camp:D

Anyone else getting nostalgic for Joe Namath's mammoth ol' OT,
Sherman Plunkett?
One Monday the NYT writer said that his job seemed to be
"to fall on the ground and thrash around."

I guess that isn't quite enough anymore.

If he sits on the end of the bench, better get Wilfork to sit on the other end.
