Gargano: Westbrook Wants $30 Million From Eagles

Forget Lito Sheppard. Anthony Gargano says the Philadelphia Eagles and star running back Brian Westbrook are at least $15 million apart in contract talks.

Westbrook is expected to report to Eagles' training camp at Lehigh University this week, but he has a new agent and wants to be paid as much as Chargers' star LaDanien Tomlinson, said Gargano on an interview on "Good Day Philadelphia."

Westbrook is the Eagles' top player and arguably the best all-around running back in the NFL.

But he has a history of injuries, which led the Eagles to drag out Westbrook's most recent contract.

Gargano said the Eagles were offering $15 million in guaranteed money to Westbrook, while his agent was asking for $30 million.

Also, Gargano said that the Eagles were in the last-minute bidding fir defensive end Jason Taylor, who was traded to the Redskins on Sunday night.

The Dolphins reportedly wanted a second round and fifth round draft pick from the Eagles, who balked at the offer.

Taylor was send to Washington for a second round and fifth round draft pick from the Redskins.

Yoicks. Good thing he said arguably. I can think of several RBs I'd rather have on my team over Westbrook, even when he is healthy.

Imagine what Westbrook would be able to do in New England. I don't think I would take any other back for this team. He's perfect for it.

That said, I don't think any RB is worth that kind of dough.

Back breaking contract negotiations? An always hobbled quarterback? And aging defense? Lack of big play wide receivers? These things couldn't have happened to a better team with a nicer fanbase.

At least they were willing to break the bank for a new CB :D

Honestly, I wish Asante luck on the Eagles. I hate that franchise and their fanbase, but he did a lot for us when he was here.

I don't. Screw him. I'll spin on a dime when someone leaves the Patriots. At least he came closer to playing out his contract than Meion Branch did although Samuel didn't either as he held out until we agreed not to use our contractual right to Franchise him.

I agree. Soon we will all see that Samuel was a part of a great system that made him who he i$ today.

So then he did play out his contract? Because he wasn't franchised, doesn't mean he didn't play out his contract.

Saw an intersting stat the other day.
From 2000-2004 McNabb was 54-18
From 2005-1007 he was 17-16 missing at least 3 games each year.......

IMO he didn't because he refused to show up to work until they agreed to remove what is, essentially, a team option year in the contract. Anyway, I didn't mean to change the subject here - sorry.

DITTO!!!

Westbrook, in the Pats offense, would be great, however, he is not going anywhere.
