I know, it seems unthinkable! The Patriots already have
the best QB in the league, hands down! So why would
a retired legend even be a consideration for this team?

Simple. Favre is faced with the unpleasant situatin of
having to sort through teams that might be interested,
bearing in mind that he almost certainly can't remain in
his current division. If he does, it's in GB---as a backup.

Let me ask you, who would you rather back up, the best
QB in the league, or your own unproven previous back up?

Remember, also, that this would allow Favre to throw bombs to
Randy Moss, which is a major factor in his retirement decision.

Also, Tom Brady has not yet showed his ankle is 100%. They
haven't done a whole helluva lot to minimize the hits on him. If
you're the Pats, do you bank on a rookie QB, or gamble on a legend?

Re: Brett Favre ---A Patriot???

He has already shown that he thinks it's an insult to be a back up QB. And while I think he's grossly overrated, he's still better than the majority of NFL QBs and deserves a starting gig. It sounds cool, but it's beyond unrealistic and totally unnecessary.

You can have your $.02 back.

My 2 Cents: That ain't happnin'.

Why in the blue hell would BB/Pioli/Kraft want to bring in such a huge distraction? You already have (for argument's sake) one of the top two QB's playing in this decade.

This idea sucks.

Yeah, I agree w/the consensus. That would be cool. Also it would be cool if I could shoot lightning out of my fingertips. There's a dozen teams out there that would start him.

Come to think of it though, even if he wanted to do this, I don't know that we need a prima donna on the bench muttering "trip Tom trip..." all season.

Not to mention Favre's enormous salary

Not sure anybody pays him that 12M figure... but that 2 cents guys probably should have said "wouldn't it be cool if he came to the Pats and played for league minimum"

The only thing I would do with Favre is give Green Bay a draft pick to get him to the NFC and then trade him back to the NFC for a higher pick than it cost to get him.

The obvious offshoot of boredom.. 4 days to TC, then there will be some substance..

I say trade Brady for Favre straight up. It seems like a more plausible scenario than Favre wanting to come here to back up Brady.

Favre isn't coming back to be a back up. There are plenty of teams that will gladly make him a starter. Favre wants to play, not hold a clipboard. If he was willing to be a back up, there would be no situation in Green Bay. Favre will be starting somewhere in early September and it won't be in New England.

Amusing at best......Cap would simply not allow unless Favre were to agree to play for Vet min. (fast chance).

If he agreed to play vet min and be a back up and help teach our young QB's about the position, NE would have solid vet back up and a coach on the field.

Of course, Brett Favre would never do any of those things - not in a million years.

Goodness gracious - let's get TC started already.

this is what happens when you drink and post.

Let's discuss something a tad more realistic. Should the Pats go after Takeo Spikes? or Ty Law? These 2 players would possibly address more of a need. Thoughts?

Exactly.

I'm just gonna act like I didn't even read such a ridiculous thought.

If this is you Brett we don't have any influence with the front office. If its not ( In my best Fred Guine/judge voice from my Cousin Vinnie) "Arehh You on Druhhgs". Because his being here would destroy the team.
