Pretty good article from Don Banks:

After the AFC Championship, San Diego is a growing rivalry.

We have beaten the Chargers in what the past 2 years strait? Rivalry to me is when the two teams are close to each other..Chargers just cant beat the pats

I heard their commercial 2 days ago. Colts and Patriots are the only mentioned teams. It seems to me that everybody wants to have a piece of Pats.

And Christopher Price gets credit for writing the "blueprint".

If they want to look at us organizationally, fine I guess. But the chess analogy where they get a piece to match our piece doesn't work too well as the whole personality of the Patriots changes so drastically from year to year.

I love that they think Cromartie will be able to go man coverage on Moss...I hope to god that they do that....

Didnt most of the teams that tried man coverage on Moss last year lose by an average of 30? Ive never liked Cromartie, even in college he seemed like a guy who needs a good ass-kicking so I hope Moss spanks him up and down the field.

god I miss football.........

Im calling it in right now....Chargers 9-7. Norv Turner cant rely on Marty Schottenheimer's players forever

He'd be better off copying the Giants.

Wasn't it just two years ago that the ****y Chargers felt playing the Patriots was no big deal because the Pats can't beat them. What three straight losses can do to you.

As they would beat us 9 out of 10 times, they should have 27 in a row coming - not sure whey they'd be concerned about us.

After going 16-0, the entire league is a growing rivalry.

Indy is also focused on beating the Pats.
So is Jacksonville.
Pittsburgh as well.
Cleveland is trying to build a team based on the Pats blueprint.
The rest of the AFC East goes without saying.
Part of the Dallas "all in" strategy is taking on the Pats in the Super Bowl.

If you are in the AFC and aren't equipped to take on the Pats, you probably won't go as far as you would like.

If you are in the NFC, you aren't worried about the Pats now but you have one eye on them for February '09.

The Pats are at the top of the mountain (sorry Giants fans) so they will set the bar that teams will shoot for during team building. Doesn't mean that the Pats are a rivalry for every team...just that it is smart planning. If you want to be the best, you better be ready to beat the best. If the road to the title doesn't happen to go through Foxboro, then you should still be adequately prepared to take on whoever happens to be in the way.

No one can cover Moss individually. That's why he's Randy Moss.

You have to play some Cover-2 or hope that Raider Randy shows up - And that just ain't going to happen.

The Dude is a freak. Bring back Primetime in in "Prime" and then you got matchup, but Randy still scores on him - Too much height.

Any of us who sat in the stands for the 41-17 beating in 2005 know better. Plus if Troy didn't save us in the Playoffs we would have gone down then as well. I bought my plane ticket for this one as soon as schedule came out.

Well put!

I'm thinking that San Diego will probably be the second best team in the AFC this year. After proving to themselves that they can perform well even with injuries, I'm sure they've gained much needed confidence.

If the Chargers want to beat the Pats, they better find a coach who can do so. Norv did a nice job using Schottenheimer's team, but that won't last forever. His true colors will show through soon enough.

Probably sooner rather than later as RBs have the shortest NFL shelf life and without Tomlinson at top form they are not the same team. Not that I am saying LT is done because I expect him to be great again this year but it will deminish quickly when its time and it is possible last year was the writting on the wall.

This article got me so fired up for the game in October, especially since I will be there.

I respect the heck out of the Chargers on the football field. Off the field and a good portion of their fans, not so much. But I think Norv Turner and Philip Rivers are the problems when it comes to beating the Pats.

It should be pointed out that the Pats have upgraded their team to help with the threats presented by their closest competition as well. Mayo will help with aging LT and Addai.

The real question is who did they draft to cover CHAD mfing JACKSON!

I'll be at that game too. And I can't f'n wait. Welker is absolutely going to WORK Antoine Cason.

Let's be honest. These guys came real close to beating us last year without Rivers, Gates or Tomlinson anywhere near 100%. Damn gutsy performance by the Chargers.

Week 6 will probably be for HFA should they meet in the playoffs.
