Good timing. On a related note, are there ANY Shortstops available that could be had at the trade deadline as apparently skipper doesn't think the kid in AAA is ready. My god how could anyone want Lugo on their team with a .154 with RISP and he leads the league in errors?????? Isn't one of the criteria for a SS doing SOMETHING well, either hitting or fielding?
I never knew why Orlando Cabrera never was allowed back
The real reason (or at least the first of the many theories) is that Cabrera was very interested in the underage girls of Boston. I think the reason that this didn't get out in the media is that there is little proof other than speculation. And even though there was a lot of speculation about it, calling someone a pedophile in the media is a pretty big risk unless you are completely positive that it's true.

I heard the same rumor. Specifically, BC coeds. The real reason (or at least the first of the many theories) is that Cabrera was very interested in the underage girls of Boston. As far as Alex Gonzalez, he played 111 games in 2006, 110 games in 2007, and has yet to play a game this year. He wouldn't be the answer either. The best shortstop this team has had over the past few years (Hanley excluded) is Renteria. Trading him was the mistake.

And people were saying the exact same thing about JD Drew last year.Trading Rent-a-reck was not a mistake. He isn't the type of player who can handle playing in Boston. He even admitted that he didn't know how to handle the booing?
Is that who you wan't at SS?
I wish, but I don't think the Sox can fully abandon Lugo this year. I hope I'm wrong.

Renteria had a back injury the entire 2005 season. His offense was OK (career high in runs, second highest total hits of his career), he just had a miserable defensive season. And when a two time gold glove winner has a miserable defensive season at age 29, chances are it's due to the back injury.
Why couldn't we fully abandon him? His pitiful average? His total inability to hit the ball with RISP? His monumental lack of power? His league leading error total? He doesn't even seem to be impressive on the bases compared to much of our other talent so I'm going to go "nope" to the base stealing/speed issue too. I don't get what this guy has on the FO that HE is the idiot we've kept around after letting go of 4 guys who were better in one way or another...
