Any predictions for the UFC this Saturday?

Me obviously, since I talked to you about it in the other forum. Well I didn't get this in before saturday, so I can't talk predictions. I wasn't surprised at all by the competitiveness of the Forrest/Jackson fight. It was great. I saw anonymous internet whiners complaining that Jackson was "robbed," but Forrest had 10-8 second round, and Jackson didn't dominate enough to even tie. Still it was a great fight between two class acts. I haven't seen any of the other ones yet though. I heard Gonzaga dominated in the prelim bouts.

Big fan of Amir Sadollah too. Can't wait to see him fight again.

Also, does anyone train MMA here? Maybe you could share a resource that might be helpful to others. I go to www.lockflow.com almost daily, they have a good selection of striking and grappling tehcniques, drills, and workouts. Also, my training partners and I recently came across this workout at Men's Fitness: www.mensfitness.com/ufcworkout2
Great circuit training stuff designed specifically for fighters to better their endurance, strength, balance, and explosiveness. Enjoy and share anything you might use!

I've tried getting into it ... but there's nothing there ... sorry Wildo.

I notice that the article was co-authored by Mark DellaGrotte. He is a top notch Kru with a gym in Somerville. For about two years I have been contemplating training in Muy Thai so I have been checking out his studio. Problem for me is that I am 50 years old and currently I spend a good portion of my time training for triathlons. I really want to break down and just do it.

BTW...I posted over in the PUB that Fedor will be fighting Tim Sylvia on July 19th...not for the UFC but for Affliction. I have been waiting for the return of FEDOR.

I didn't see the Jackson/Forrest fight live but I did watch the replay the next day online... I agrree that all the whining was crap...Rampage had nothing in that fight. Those early leg kicks did him in. Either that or he came into the fight will a poor strategy. The fight had to go to Forrest.

Sorry to post this and then disappear, I was away for the fourth and have been really busy since I got back.

I thought the most impressive fight of the night was Koscheck, who seems to improve dramatically everytime he fights. I thought Rampage won slightly but it wasn't a bad decision, he looked like he barely trained for the fight. All in all it was a pretty good night of fights and a weird one for me as I went to NYC for the SOX/Yanks game and watched the fights in Scores while sitting next to Chuck Zito.

Sorry you don't like it FBN, but you'll come around eventually;)

If you're talking about the idiots on Sherdog, they always complain about every decision. That might be the dumbest group of people on the internet.

I like Amir a lot too, he's gonna be a really good fighter.

Haha yep it was Sherdog. I don't usually listen/read internet opinions (except here of course), but yeah, that seems like a pretty accurate characterization. CB will be a good fighter too, but man the ego on that one. He was very impressive wrestler though. Amir was just so determined and likeable.

So UFC 87, I'm excited to see Lesnar again. I think he'll be amazing once he gets over some of his greener tendencies.

Fedor FTW!! Wow Affliction really put on a great show. This is bad for the UFC and good for MMA. Particularly bad for Dana White who looks like an idiot after saying Fedor was nothing special considering he just beat a long time UFC heavyweight champion in 36 seconds. Total domination.

There was no way that Dana White believed what he said about Fedor. Anyone who has ever watched Fedor fight knows he is the GREATEST MMA heavy weight of all time. No question. He destroyed Tim Silvia....destroyed. Bring on Randy Couture.

I thought the Affliction card was great...although there were some mismatches on the card and the production was sketchy at times. Please get rid of Megadeth. I would also like to see Bas Rutten in the booth rather than Frank Trigg. Big John was pretty good for his first time. He needs some polish.

I think last night was one of Arlofski's best fights. He seems to be rejuvenated. His last fight against Silvia was one of the worst I have seen...he didn't seem to be in it...nothing special that time did. Last night he brought his best.

I have to admit that I only saw parts of Arlofski's fight live...I did watch the whole fight on the replay. I switched over to watch Anderson Silva demolish Irvin. Not many people stand a chance in the ring with Silva. I will never forget those devastating knees to Rich Franklin's face.

Hopefully, Affliction has a future. MMA needs the competition. When it is just the UFC...the cards just aren't as good.
