I remember this topic coming up before and I'm pretty sure the reason was that this program aired prior to the completion of this season.

It says it was posted 16 hours ago. Maybe they shouldn't re-post old out of date crap.

Even if they had Brady and Moss it would still be a joke of a list.

Old show, has not been updated.

Although I find it amazing that they can't update their Top 10 Lists, they clearly have enough time based on their complete lack of original programming.

The Network has GOT to be in trouble. They play the same 2 advertisements OVER and OVER - sometimes, they have no ads - Just NFL ads that bring no money to the network - "A little u goes along way" over and over. I would imagine that most of their Advertisers back out in the off season, but they really should try and do some original programming to bring people to the Network - Other than people like me that could watch the same game over and over again - sans the Super Bowl.

I for one am glad that I didn't waste any more time and money subscribing to Comcrap's NFL network sports tier. Then again, I'm a thrifty Scot.

This is an old list from a show that was put together prior to last season, I've seen it before. I would assume the story was posted to coincide with a repeat airing of one of their Top 10 shows sometime this past weekend.

The NFLN is still far preferable to any other television sports network (espn, fox) for NFL information (in spite of the presence of Marshall Faulk). However, I do believe they are mis-manged on multiple levels.

The programming could easily be upgraded with almost no additional cost. Football Follies and Cheerleader Playoffs are both on way too often. Game of the Week is a great idea, replaying a forgotten game from a few years ago, but why replay the same game three times in one 24 hour period and twice just three hours apart? A random game that I don't recall the outcome could be a lot more interesting to watch than a Super Bowl or some other 'classic' game that has little intrigue becomes I already know how the story ends, but mix it up and don't show the same game over and over again.

An NFL season is twenty weeks long including the playoffs. How about, for example, in each of the twenty weeks leading up to either the pre-season or the regular season, replaying one or two of the key games from week one through week twenty? Perhaps on one or two of the other nights you could program something similar, a show with each of a given season's ten playoff games. To me that would make for better off-season programming than the current offering.

The fact that their are so few commercials tells me that the NFL is taking the same stance with advertisers as they are with cable companies, and pricing themselves too high. To me it would make more sense to price yourselves low - with both cable fees and ad rates - get a lot of consumers hooked on your product, and then gradually raise your prices. A smaller dollar amount times something equals a higher revenue and profit number than a larger dollar amount times nothing.

In case anybody was curious, here are links to the NFL Network schedule and to a description of the NFL Network shows.

I think for the network the offseason is a big blackhole. They could switch things up and vary their programing but I am not sure it would help much. For most people there just isn't intrest in rewatching games that are already determined even if they don't know the outcome. For us nuts on here they could put on almost anything and we will still watch.

I think the NFL network needs to go one or 2 directions with the offseason because they can't please both crowds when Football is in the offseason. Option one play up to the Ultra crazy cerebral fan who wants as much as they can get and put on old coaches and players and have them teach in extreme detail. This would have me hooked but would make it unwatchable for the layman. Option 2 cow tail to the layman and put on programing that teaches the simplier points of the game, something a Farther would want to watch with his young kid to teach him the sport or Guys with their Girlfriends. This would make it unwatchable for us nutso fans.

Right now They don't do enough to make a layman want to watch during the offseason but they still keep it too simple for the nutso fans and outside of a few interesting re-run games there isn't much on their for the nutso fans. Kind of stuck in the middle pleasing neither right now. Though they do please me becase as I said I can watch anything.

EDIT: maybe the options aren't something they should do. But just my opinion. I definitely think that is their biggest problem though, how do you please the crowd that watches and knows little compared to the crowd that watches and is more knowledgible than the pannels. The program will always be considered weak to us because there is only so much you can do without confusing the layman and forcing them to switch the channel.

17 days until Training Camp...then we'll have better things to do than be offended by year-old programs. For those of us who are really out of meaningful NFL stuff to discuss, check out TB's Gisele in the current GQ. It might not be about the "NFL," but it sure is "meaningful." :singing:

Yeah. NFLN is my "default" channel unless there's something I really want to watch. Basically, unless it's "Football Follies" or "Cheerleader Playoffs" NFLN is on in my house. I never thought of them using old coaches to discuss strategy and technique. That really is a brilliant idea. I also like the "random game" idea. They've opened that door with the 92 Packers-Bengals game (for Favre's first comeback) so why not do more of that?

I think they do a great job with documentaries, too. The "America's Game" series is remarkable. More of that type of programming around different themes would work.

I'd also like to see them have the rights to local programming in the teams' regions, as well. I would love to be able to catch a 30 minute show on say the Jags from Jacksonville. Or any coaches shows out there.

You make a good point. To me, the NFLN caters to a niche market, the same way the Golf, Outdoor, or Speed channel does. None of these networks were created for casual fans, they were made for die hard fanatics like you and me. Shows like Football Follies and Cheerleader Playoffs appeal more to a casual general sports fan and would be better off on Fox Sports Network or espn, instead of on the special interest NFLN. At this point in time the NFL Network is better off catering to die hard football fans in my opinion, especially during the off-season. After it's been around for a few years and has grown it's viewer base, perhaps at that time they can broaden their programming for more mass appeal.
