Serious question folks since its a slow down period (relatively speaking) and the hottest thread right now is a damn Brady v Manning rehash.

I live/work here in San Francisco and my office's secretary is the cousin of a prominent 49er defensive player. She is willing to bring me to the friends and family section when the Patriots are in town but she not only wants me to hide my Bostonian heritage but also want me to actually wear SF apparel and not cheer for the Patriots either. Her reasoning is that the other players have a policy of absolutely refusing to bring fans of the visiting team into the area and some of these wives really get pissed big time.

How can I cope with that to sit there on my hands just to save 150 bucks?

To me it depends on how hard it is to get tickets for 49ers games. If you don't have to worry about availability and you can just pony up the money and go to the game then I wouldn't take the tickets. Even if its tough to get tickets I' don't think I would go, I mean the all the fun of going to a game is rooting your team on and cheering when they do well.

Wear Patriots gear under the 49ers gear.

Scream as loud as you can in your head but sigh our loud if the Pats make a big play.

When the clock is running down and were up by 21 then cheer your guts out.

down by 21? ill let the niners know how generous of a guy you are

my advice:

wear the 49 crap (if u dont have to buy it)
and wear the pats stuff underneath

but after u get in, cheer normally...dont pretend for the niners
just tone it down a little bit, and put a little humor in it, so that niner fans dont get too pissed off

but have a blast man, i would love to piss that many ppl off (more so if they were indy fans....even more so if they were jets fans)

My thought exactly. I'd be wiling to fake it in another team's stadium for $150. It would be hard, but I could do it. Just don't drink, it would increase chances of blowing your cover.

+1. Then when the Pats win, do an imitation of Brandi Chastain and rip the Niners gear off!

Guys - I like that idea but I mean you got to remember this is friends and family seating. Their are OL and DL wives there that probably weight in at over 2 hundo. Have you ever had a confrontation with multiple women of that size?

======================================

I just bought two tickets to the Jets VS 49ers and they were
$111 a piece, corner end zone lower level, I could of got seats for $77 a piece.

I would not wear the 9er gear no way, but I would go and not wear team gear and be cool around the wives. if it's the only way to get to see the game, other wise I would just buy some tix and see her at 1/2 time.

If its a friends and family section of the teams-players then I have to disagree with the above posters;

my feelings you can go in there but SHOULD NOT wear 49 gear. Don't pretend to be something you are not. that is almost as bad as next Don't.

ABSOLUTELY SHOULD NOT make an azz of yourself or cheer wildly for the Pats. You could wear unseen Pats gear - tshirt under a sweatshirt; socks etc. But don't make it obvious. If anyone asks you can admit you are actually a Pats fan and say you respect 49ers; but you cant change your heart. Commisserate with the 49ers fans when they lose :)rolleyes: hopefully) and save your exultations for later.

If you can't live with that for a 3 hour game then ask if you can take the invite for stadium admission and watch from a standup gallery and meet your friend outside the friends-family door afterwards.

I think it would be disrespectful to go into that area and either pretend fanship or worse yet to make it about you rather than them and their family-members at the family-members place of work.

Wear you new Jerod Mayo shirt.

It's their draft pick, so you should be all right technically.

(Slow down sticklers, I know it was re-traded)

Personally would either buy a ticket or watch it from home, not sure I could do this.. putting on a 49'ers Jersey would make me throw up in my mouth. Some things are not worth compromising..

Wear another team's gear? No effing way.

Go to a game and be told I can't cheer? No effing way.

I'd tell her, "Thanks, but no thanks" and watch it at home.

Its simple. Go enjoy the game. Don't wear Pats stuff and don't 49ers stuff. Go in nuetral clothes and don't cheer at all. Just enjoy the game. That way you don't piss off your friend or get them in trouble with the wives and that way you don't have to be a traitor either.

I will be going to that game as well. Making that and the Chargers game following it my road trip this year. :rocker:

I would consider going to the game in neutral gear. While in the friends and family section be quiet and civil out of respect to the person who is getting you the tickets. Partake of their food and drink, if that is part of the package. Then at some point take a stroll, find some other Pats fans, and watch the game with them - whether it be in an unused seat, or standing at the top of an aisle. Just my opinion, that's what I would probably plan on doing.

Join the club. I think I might try to go to the Seattle game as well.

As far as this dilemma, if you don't think you can score or don't want to pay for tix, just go. Like others said, don't where gear of either team, and just enjoy the game.

Just Mike Patrick that ****. Anytime there is a big play (for either team) give a good ol':

Holy cow, did you see that! What a catch!
Unbelievable! Tom Brady is one of the all-time greats.
Frank Gore, you have got to be kidding me! Unbelievable!

And I would also agree with the key rule being: Do. Not. Drink.

Go to the game, don't wear ANY gear whatsoever, and hit on the wives (are they MILFs?).

it's simple. all you do is buy an el cheapo 49ers hat made in Guatamala and wear no other 49ers gear. when the pats win, chuck it out in the trash on the way out. if you have to cheer for the pats, just excuse yourself to the restroom and let out a cheer when none of the players' families are around. if the pats score a touchdown, you can cheer, but when people start staring out you say "I thought we intercepted the ball."
