.....with an even bigger heart.

Its ESPN but this is a great story similar to the Tedy Bruschi one of last year. Although this is not Patriots related it deserves to be seen and let everyone see the good a lot of players do off the field.

That's a great video. It's great to see players doing stuff like this. Good for Ben and all the Steelers players. It was really cute watching him taking the hand off. I know the Patriots do a lot stuff like this as well. It's sad the media pays so much attention to everything negative in football and completely dismisses anything positive. Every football player and team that participates in helping communities and children such as this should be praised. Thanks for the post SBru.

Nice guy but I will forever HATE the freaking Steelers and everyone who plays for them.

With that said,This holiday week I am to visit my Stepson and his girlfirend who have just had a baby - unfortunately they live 15 miles northwest of Pittsburgh to which I must travel to see my new grandson.

My first grandson better be worth it....And I WILL be wearing my Brady Jersey while in the Pittsburgh area (pray for my health, they are tough out there even more so since 2001 ;) :))

Re: I dont care what anyone says. Big Ben is a great guy

I went to the Bills-Steelers game last year and wore my Bills stuff all weekend and had no problems. In fact, lots of folks came up to us and talked football very knowledgeably. My favorite were the two 80 year old ladies we met at the Warhol museum who could talk both Bills and Steelers intelligently without missing a beat. That's a city full of real fans, no doubt about it. Due to the Steelers-Pats recent history you may have a harder time, but somehow I doubt it.

The only exception was some a-hole sitting behind us at the game who was just a complete jerk until I shut him up with "Are you from the Pittsburgh area?" Before he could realize where I was going he said, "No, no I'm not", after which I shot back, "Oh, so you must have started liking them after one of their losing seasons, Bandwagon Boy". It was funny watching him backtrack on his own origins and he shut his trap the rest of the way.....

They were nice to you because they don't have an inferiority complex towards the Bills. How could they...for that matter, how could anyone?:D

Re: I dont care what anyone says. Big Ben is a great guy

Fair point--in my travels, I've noticed how much nicer opposing team's fans are when you lose to their team, which we've done all too much of lately.:D

Actually, in thinking back on the weekend (which as a lot of fun, BTW), folks there were just plain nice to us even before they kicked our butts that game, so maybe it's something in the water....

Unfortunately, the same can't be said for Charger Fans. I went to the game back in 2002 and was harassed non-stop by way too many drunk Charger fans, both going in and coming out of the game. Needless to say, it wasn't very enjoyable.

Back to the topic at hand. Its great when players do this sort of work. I just wish that they (as well as others in the entertainment industry) did this more often.

Yup, nice guy and good story.

Still want him to loose everytime he lines up against the Pats.

I thought that kid was Anthony Smith. Wasn't that him?;)

Seattle is the most hostile place I have ever been a visitor at. I had an entire section giving me crap for my Bledsoe jersey. They never let up. We play there this year...I wish I still had that Bledsoe jersey.

Oakland will give you crap, but it is mostly in fun.

I think it depends on the section, night vs. day game, and attitude. Night games increases the drunkeness factor so you get more fights, but the depressent effects of alcohol seem to kick in at the 4th quarter.

That was a very nice story.....wish he heard those more often as there really are some heros in the league but the Media is to busy showing the jerks.

Very cool video.

Good stuff.

Nice story, thank you! Things like this should get more representation than they do.

I don't recall many people saying Big Ben was a bad guy.
Nope ... he is a good smart guy off the field and a dumb jock when he's on it.

SB54, thanks for posting. If anybody wants to see a 6'1", 210 LB man with watery eyes, swing by my desk. :) Great story. Definitely the positive part of what athletes can do.

So all someone would have to do is make a video like this and you guys love him….someone alert Freddie Mitchell

Yes, if a guy does something like this and makes a video of it than that video will make us like the guy more.

Just as long as he doesn't take the kid on a bike ride.

Re: I dont care what anyone says. Big Ben is a great guy

It's not that bad. Well... actually it is. However, the best attitude is attitude. The average Steelers hates:

It wasn't the Steel Curtain, it was the Steriod Curtain.

The Steelers Dynasty is so old, only your girlfriend (wife) is old enough to remember.

SB XL shows it's easier to pay off officials vs taping.

When they talk smack, blow your nose into the "terrible towel"
