What is your prediction for the week 1 game Jets @ Dolphins?
Mine is Jets 13 Dolphins 24

Mine is I couldn't possibly care less. Hopefully it's a very, very physical game.

I think a key to this will be who is starting at QB for the Jets. As a young QB in week one can be a little like a fish out of water.

I think the Dolphins will be the better team this year but at this point I will have to say that will take sometime to develope and I would expect them to lose week one as they still would just be getting started.

With neither team actually in training camp yet and with the Doofins not sure who their starting QB will be, enlighten all of us and explain how you pulled that score out of your ass espcially considering the Jets were playoff team two years ago and the Doofins won one effin game last year.

Engage brain before posting ok you Doofin homer?

Eh, I don't really have a problem with Finz even though he did not take my advice and is starting to make himself look like a troll. But he's optimistic about his team. Considering the kind of season they had last year, there is nothing wrong with that.

I could say the same thing for the fins

"Eh, I don't really have a problem with Finz even though he did not take my advice and is starting to make himself look like a troll." They all come here with the same line of sh!t; I think your team is awesome, what they have done since 2002 is incredible. I'm not here to troll, but talk football.................which lasts about ten minutes, then the trolling starts.

"But he's optimistic about his team. Considering the kind of season they had last year, there is nothing wrong with that." No there isn't and after a 1-15, there's nowhere to go but up. My question stands; what does he base a win on considering the Doofins were 1-15 last year, ie, what reasons are there optimism aside...........

Dolphins win, -3 to -28

My crystal ball is a little cloudy in june, but Would somebody find out what ye old tunas record is with a new organization. Not that he's coaching it but I'm sure he will have spagnolo wearing one of those invisible dog fence collars, you know it beeps right before it zaps you...

It doen't really need to be said for the Phins because they most likely will be starting a pup unless they go with McCown who doesn't have the experience of a Pennington anyway. If the Jets go with Pennington than I give them the edge....if they go with a pup than that equals things out to me.

I can see McCown and Beck getting playing time this season while Henne waits in the wings. For some reason, I think Henne will be the Dolphins QB of the future. For some other reason, he really reminds me of Tony Romo.

I think Henne will be a bum. After 3 year of watching him at Michigan the guy had no pocket awareness what so ever, if you want to see a prime example check out two years ago Michigan Ohio State 1 vs 2. He gets happy feet and bounces around in the pocket and never feels the rush. He is tough, plays through injury and has a rocket arm, but his decision making is sketchy and he had a great supporting cast for three years yet led a slightly above average to above average offense. Also his accuracy at times was terrible. If the week one matchup is Clemens vs Beck, the only thing favoring the fins are weather and home field advantage. I keep saying this but overall we have a better team anyway you slice it.

Well, you have to figure that the offense sustained a pretty good amount of injuries the past two seasons. Look what they did to the Gators in that bowl game once their whole offense was healthy (including him).

Last year it was bad injury wise but two years ago he had a full cast of characters. Good o-line, a great RB in Hart, good WR's in Arrington, Manningham and last name slips my mind. Michigan's offense was good but should have been better with the talent they had. I just dont think years of coaching will solve his terrible pocket presence, im not saying this b/c he is a fin. Before the draft I wanted no part of him or Brohm.

I'm rooting for the 'lphins to do what they couldn't manage last year--

JEST 0, 'lphins 0 :D

To seriously evaluate the game, I went back and looked at week 1 of the last 4years to get a feel for the way teams start opening weekend.

Jets opened with the following scores since 2004. 31-24 win over cincy, 2005 27-7 loss against KC, 2006 23- 16 win over the Titans, 2007 38 - 14 loss to the Pats.

Miami since 2004, 17-7 loss to the Titans, 2005 34-10 win over the Broncos, 2006 28-17 loss to the Steelers, 2007 16-13 loss to the Skins.

The Jets seem to win their opener every other year, going 500 over the last 4 seasons and the Dolphins have won just 1 in the last four years. Now taking into account Parcells always starts off slow with a new team and uses his first year to evaluate the talent he has to work with, and that the Jets coach really can't afford a week 1 loss to the Dolphins, I'd predict the Jets come out a little bit more focussed and pull off the win. With the Jets not having a major passing attack, and needing to play ball control, I guess that it will not be a high scoring game. So I will go with 20 - 13 Jets over Miami. Figure the Dolphins will clamp down on the run game in the red zone forcing a few field goals by the Jets and the Jets defense shouldn't give up too many big plays to the very mediocre Dolphins offense.
