My 22nd birthday is on July 9th and my 'rents mentioned that they were trying to get Pats tickets. They asked me if I wanted to go to a home game or an away game and I looked at the schedule. I saw that the only home game that might be worth going to (besides the Jets game) would be the Steeler game. However, I expect that to be sold out when my parents start looking at tickets for me.

So I made it known that I'd rather travel to Indy or San Diego with a friend then chose San Diego as the primary location because I have no interest in seeing Indianapolis. They will be looking at ticket prices for me and the price of a flight so that is cool. So basically, I'm here to ask anybody that has been to San Diego what it is like. How is parking? Is the stadium close to downtown? Public transportation? What is the aggression level like at Qualcomm? Are the locals friendly?

By the way, I know this should go into the road games forum but I need answers and that forum is D-E-A-D. lol

How is parking? not bad plenty of space

Is the stadium close to downtown? about 10 minutes from where yuo want to be which is OB I forget if that is ocean or old beach (there is not both though)
Public transportation? we didn't look into it but I don't think there was much
What is the aggression level like at Qualcomm? I was there before the Charger/Pats rivalary grew but everyone was nice we are talking about laid back southern cali
Are the locals friendly? again we are talking about laid back southern cali

I am going to go to that game too. I had family who lived out there so I have been to San Diego a few times and I love it there. It is such a nice place, good weather, good people, good food (especially if you like mexican mmm mmm).

If you do go to Old/ocean beach, I believe it is ocean beach everyone just called it OB, You should try to get to a bar/restaraunte called South Beach and get some Fish Tacos.........Those things were so good.

Also Qualcom kinda reminded me of Foxboro Stadium.

I lived in San Diego for 2 years and have been to two Pats games there. The stadium is not in downtown, but rather a few miles northeast in an area called Mission Valley. However, I suggest staying downtown in The Gaslamp district and then taking the trolley to the game (unless you want to drive and tailgate).

Since you're 22, you'll probably enjoy staying in the Pacific Beach neighborhood as well. Lots of clubs on Garnet Avenue there that cater to the younger crowd like yourself. In this case, drive to the game.

The locals are friendly outside the stadium and once inside, if you're friendly then they're friendly. Like any other road venue, if you start talking sh*t, somebody will call you out. Just cheer on the Pats, avoid any "Chargers suck!" chants and you'll be fine.

Regards,
Chris

I live in LA and have been to Qualcomm for Pats game (and will go to this one). Def. stay in gaslamp district. you can take a trolley up to the game. That's the way to do it.

As far a fans, I went before the rivalry grew. Charger fans for some reason have an air of unfounded arrogance, but are mostly harmless. A good chunk of the crowd will be for the Pats anyway.

One thing that is VERY IMPORTANT but I didn't read mentioned, is that I can almost 100% guarantee that Chargers will not sell single tickets to this game but will instead sell them as a part of a package. They do this with the Raiders and any other popular teams to avoid a huge pro-visiting team crowd.

If this is the case, your best bet for tix will be to buy them through eBay, craigslist or a re-seller. Highly doubt you'll be able to get through chargers.com or ticketmaster.

(It might only be that non-SoCal zip code addresses can't buy tix, in which case your friend could come in handy.)

Well me and my roomate will be going. My parents are currently looking on eBay, but I'll mention craigslist to them as well.

Stubhub and the likes would be a good choice as well.

Funny thing I didn't mention is that my roomate is also a Giants fan. :bricks:

I'm a rookie in all of this thread stuff, but I'd like to understand about away games.

I'd like to go to one away game this year, since we couldn't get tickets under $2500.00 for the Super Bowl, so my husband wouldn't go.

What's the drill?

I was at the playoffs game two years ago in SD. There was a fair amount of aggro behavior towards Pats fans -- the occasional bump/shove, and definately some lunatics looking for a fight in the parking lot after the game -- but there were also a lot of cool fans as well, and trouble wouldn't find you unless you were looking for it.

Not too difficult. You can usually find tickets on Ticketmaster or another outlet if you buy them early enough. I'm sure Pats are a hot ticket for any away game, but it's easy enough to find some. Just figure out what game you want to go to and check out their team page to see when tix go on sale.

Happy Birthday man and I hope you get to go. I really want to make it to a game this year and that is one of the games on my list. Its either that or SF or Oakland.(My friends are 49er and Raider fans) I rather go do the SD game but I don't know if I'm going to be able to go yet. I don't know why but I'm really excited for you. Have fun man and again, Happy B-day! :D

San Diego is a good place to go see the team. First of all, those people are horrible fans considering they couldn't sell out their own playoff game after a 14-2 season and I got tickets from Ticketmaster two days before that sweet game (after I changed the address of my credit card to a SD zipcode - thats another story). So I don't thinks scoring tickets will be a problem if you get on it first week they go on sale.

Hopefully you are single as the colleges down there tend to produce some good talent and there will be plenty of Pats fans out on Pacific Beach the night before the game. Trust me it will be sweet.

Also, if you go to Tijuana (really a dump I tell you), drink your margys without ice.

Go to Oakland and wear Pats gear and kick it in the black hole by the endzones. The fans are very friendly and will be interested to talk to you about where you are from.

Hey man thanks for the tip. I'll be sure to remember to do that. I love meeting new people!

Thanks a lot man, I appreciate it.

Update - Talked to my mom while on my lunch break and she should be able to score the tickets and airfare for really cheap so the likelihood of me going to San Diego is looking better and better.

I know it's way early, but I just got tix to this one so we should discuss tailgating options as it gets closer.

And for what it's worth, my experience with Chargers fans is that they tend to fight eachother more than the visiting fans. And I'm not even kidding about that...

From Calgary Canada..going down to the game in San Diego. Scored some seats in the lower level right around the 20 yard line behind the Patriots bench. I'm looking to meet up with Patriots fans and I was wondering if parking is easily available and is it Foxboro priced or reasonably priced?..Also where do visiting fans typically tailgate?

Anyone have any suggestions for San Diego with:

Restaurants?
Sites to see

I will be there for 5 nights..flying in Wednesday night and flying out the Monday afternoon after the game.

I hope that all of you going to the San Diego game will join the Patriots Tailgate Club (click the link in my sig) so that you can join us for the tailgate party. We'll probably also be having a Saturday night party at Junior Seau's.

If you join the Yahoo Group, you can read some info about getting tickets for the Chargers game (or any other road game).

Since our group is made up of Pats fans from all over the country including many of us who have been to Qualcomm often (I'm actually a season ticket holder) or who live in the area and can provide great info, it will really be worth your while to join us. Despite the hard sell, it's free. Chargers fan hate the Pats and us fans with a passion so its really important to stick together.

Feel free to PM me with any questions or concerns you have about joining the club.

I agree that it sucks that these threads end up in these forums that no one ever visits.

SD is a great city. You'll have a blast there. One of if not the nicest cities in the country for my money. If you feel like getting really stupid, do go down to TJ. I was there a few years back and got totally HAMMERED. I'm walking down the street when all of a sudden I see a zebra. WHAT THE FRUCK IS A ZEBRA DOING HERE???, I says. And then I noticed that it was a spray painted donkey. Now that I'm living in China, seeing whores isn't so exotic anymore. But you may enjoy the sights.

Stay classy, Tijuana.

We are doing a small group out there with a cruise after the game. I may be able to get tickets at face value. I have been in contact with the chargers and because we did a group the last time Pats where out there I am on a "prioirty" list, if there is one. They are sold out except for a few thousand or so seats and are still trying to sell season tickets

I will know more in next few weeks. I believe I can get extra tickets. Anyone who wants them let me know.

Also have hotel space downtown on water for Saturday and Sunday Night at
Holiday inn. We may get bus from there to gae and tailgate (depends on number of people) Anyone interested let me know.

Last time at game, people were very laided back. Like anywhere if people drink and there team loses they can get agressive and more so if you are agressive toward them.

OB stands for Ocean Beach, I lived there for a year, not much happening there at night (Bar wise) but always people there. As someone else mentioned downtown Gaslamp District has been revamped and many clubs and night life. PB- Pacific Beach is just up from OB and has some night life, but active during day.

TJ-Tijauna, I worked down there for year and a Half and is great place to go, BUT YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFULL. Don't drive in to Mexico and Don't bring any type of Drugs.

TJ gets bad rap, but can be great.

San Diego State Campus is also Close and also great place to explore.

Hope this helps.

Again, anyone who might want tickets at face value let me know and when i here something from Chargers I will post.
