I got a copy of the Sporting News 2008 NFL Preview magazine. It had an article called "the Last Assassin" it was a 4 page profile on Rodney. According to the writer Rodney is the last of his breed of knock your head off safeties.

I don't agree with the premise but found the article to be an interesting read on Rodney. If someone has the on line version and would like to post it, I'm sure others would find it interesting.

As far as the Sporting News Preview, I found it disappointing compared to previous years. The are now owned by Streets & Smith so things have changed. Why they chose Tomase to do the Patriots write up, I don't know. I guess they are tone deaf as to what happened with him.

BTW the pick SD and Dallas in the SB. I have no problem with them doing that or the fact that they will be proven wrong.

Nut, you, as a mod, wouldn't be advocating posting copyrighted premium content on here, would you? :D

Absolutely not! They could leave out he Jack Tatum part and then it wouldn't be the entire article.

Rodney probably is the last knock your head off safeties, Sean Taylor was the one that was going to carry it on but he passed away sadly.

R.I.P. Sean Taylor

I knew he was injured in his last year in SD. What I didn't know is that he played most of the season with 35% of the muscle torn away from the bone. And then to our good fortune, the idiots cut him.

Getting away from Rodney. TSN write up on the Patriots rated our draft as a C+. I assume this was done by Tomase as his name is on the write up.

This is how stupid the guy is: "Jerod Mayo, the 10th overall selection was largely considered a second rounder".

Well Mayo was largely considered a mid first rounder on most mocks and Pro Football Weekly had him as being in the top 3rd of the first round in their final board stack a day or two before the draft.

Looks like Tomase, a football expert, didn't look at anything a month before the draft in order to write that.

Not to mention the fact that smart teams draft players that will do well in their system, not players who rank highly according to Mel "Blow My Hair Back" Kiper. It would be interesting to see what Tomase wrote right after the Pats drafted Richard Seymour instead of David Terrell. Not that every draft day decision made by the team has worked out, but over the long haul they have drafted much smarter than almost any other team, and that is a major reason why they have managed to defy the odds and maintain their excellence. (Sand Diego and Indianassolis are two others who have drafted well over the past few years...)

I can't stand San Diego and Phillip "crybaby" Rivers. He tore his ACL at the end of the season, how is he supposed to win a Superbowl on one leg?! It takes a year for those things to heal.

Also, had a heart attack last week when O.J. Mayo made the news for accepting $30,000 in cash while he was in colllege. For a minute, I thought it was Jerod Mayo.

Could you imagine this Rodney in a younger body? Man, he would just wreak havoc on the field.

Maybe he could do a "Chucky" type of exchange to extend his career a bit longer.. ;)

Tomase hasn't done any research for some time now, except check out the new offerings at Dunkin Donuts:rolleyes:

I hate to say it, but all safeties try to jar the ball loose - that is the nature of the beast.

Comparing Harrison, who I've seen pull up when the ball is "uncatchable"* to Tatum who did not care is obscene and anyone who makes it needs a kick in the, um, leg.

*Yes, I've also seen him get burned as WRs made circus catches out of some of those "uncatchable" throws.

LOL @ Mel "Blow My Hair Back" Kiper!

They had Tomase write up the Pats? They must not be paying attention. That guy is black-listed!

i'd got with 25% mocks had him as a top of the 2nd round:

(this is the first search result on google for mock draft nfl 2008)
http://walterfootball.com/draft2008_2.php

the most of the rest had late first round.

I didn't see anyone show him at in the first half of 1 except for the leaked info on Friday. Or else I guess I was checking out a different "guess the pick" game on this board that week.
