The New York Times and the Boston Globe periodically have written articles about where in New England Yankee fans start to outnumber Red Sox fans. They usually mention someplace south and west of Hartford as well as other areas like Pittsfield and southeastern Vermont. Responses to these stories indicate that the "border" is often a matter of opinion. I was wondering if the Pats/Jets or the Pats/Giants border is the same as the Red Sox/Yankee border. Growing up in Western Mass in the 50s and 60s, there were an awful lot of Giants fans because of the NFL broadcasts. I have long since moved away to Northern Virginia, but I doubt that Giant fans (even with the Superbowl win) as numerous as I remember. Also, are there Patriot fans in New York state, like around Albany?

I distinctly remember some piece in SI during the leadup week to SB42 where they went to some town in southern Connecticut that was considered "the border" where half was NYG and half NEP fans. They even had several hundred of the townsfolk out on the town green for pics and vids of them all yelling at each other. Anyone have the link?

Folks that live in Connecticut would be able to say better than me, but here's one possibility - even though it's for a different sport. Not sure where the NFL draws their line for what is deemed "local coverage", I was under the impression it was just west of suburban Hartford. What gets televised where would certainly have a huge effect on allegiance over the years.

I'm thinking all of New York state is either Bills, Jets or Giants fans, with a line starting around Troy (NY/VT/MA border) and extending to the southwest to Binghamton and the PA state line in the lower middle of the state.

i live around albany, and i feel like 1/3 of us are pats fans.

My wife's family is in Connecticut and it seems like the Pats-Giants line is somewhere between Waterbury (Giants) and Hartford (Pats).

I live literally 5 minutes away from Durham and I'd say my area (New Haven County) is mostly New York fans. Hartford and above is where you'll find most of your Boston fans.

On another note Connecticut has a lot of band wagoners and I've seen plenty of people who label themselves both Pats and Yankees fans.

It's great being a sports fan in CT though. We get all New York and all Boston games broadcasted so I'm able to follow all my teams plus their direct rivals.

Every single Pats, Jets, Giants, Red Sox, Yankees, Mets, Knicks, Nets, Bruins, and Rangers game is shown. We no longer get New England Comcast Sports Net, despite the fact we have Comcast digital cable so I missed out on a lot of Celtics regular season games this year, working on getting that fixed.

After a big win, you get to celebrate with half the people and complete **** talk the other half.

My wife's family is from Albany. There are some Pats fans there, but mostly it's Bills country.
