COLUMBUS, Ohio - An Ohio school board has voted to fire a science teacher accused of using a device to burn the image of a Christian cross on students' arms.

The Mount Vernon school board passed a resolution Friday to end the contract of middle school teacher John Freshwater. He can't be fired until after he is given a hearing to challenge the decision.

The instructor is accused of preaching his Christian beliefs in class and teaching creationism.

A family says Freshwater burned a cross into a child's arm that remained for three to four weeks. The family has sued the teacher and the school district.

They actually had to vote on whether to fire the teacher? He should be in jail.

They voted because technically he was in a Blue PC state. If he were in lets say West Virginia they might have given the kid detention so he could think about the cross.

You are amazing. The man is an absolute nut and he should be thrown in jail. To imply that this is representitive of a religion, or an entire state, is not only ignorant, its bigoted.

but thanks for playing.

I'm just shocked ww83 didn't post this in the PoFo.

I guess you missed the connection. Cross going once, going twice,Cross burnt into arm missed by the man know as Lifer.

But thanks for playing anyways and as a consolation prize it will be pointed out that calling someone ignorant isn't very CHRISTIAN like is it Lifer.

hello. when did i miss the connection? I said the guy was a nut and should be thrown into jail.

you totally missed the point. why is it the fault of Christianity because one guy is a nut? I suppose all Italians are mobsters and all Black people steal television sets and all mexicans are illegal immigrants, right?

you just posted the story so that you could take a shot at Christians. Otherwise, why did you post it and then make those comments?

to be christian doesnt mean to be a doormat. If you are being hateful of an entire group of people and are ignorant, i can certainly say so.

First,I don't hate anyone not even the guy who burnt the cross into the kids arm. I started off the thread by not pointing out any particular religion. That being said I find ( in the US) a higher percentage of incidents like this associated with fundamental Christians than any other religion. And its the hypocritical part of the whole thing that bothers me. One thing Jesus stood for was tolerance (at least to me)where i find a lot of fundamental Christians seem intolerant of any one that is not one of them.EX. Fundamental Christians give the least to charity, Catholics the most. I think this man said it best Lifer.

I like your Christ, Your Christians are so unlike your Christ....Mohandas Gandhi
