An NFL player getting jumped and beat up in Vegas. Hmmmm...... Anyone know the whearabouts of Joey Porter and his posse that night?

That's exactly what I was thinking.

I hope that he's OK. Even the very stupid deserve our best wishes from injury.

If someone did that to me, I wouldn't rob him but I would smash his face in as well. I don't get what the attraction is to popping the cork off champagne and spraying someone with it (unless you have just won a game which Javon will do very few times next year).

he was LUCKY to be alive. If he keeps up his good work, he will meet his great grandpa.

Javon was reported to have worn jewelry of $100,000 value on him and had $3,000 in cash in his wallet

And you wonder why he got robbed? - You are asking for it if you hang out at a place like that with $100,000 around your neck and on your fingers

For those of you that have not been to Vegas, the Hard Rock is a good seven blocks away from the "Strip" on a side street. I cabbie once pick me and the Mrs up off the street (which is a big no-no for cabbies, they can only pick up at hotels, etc.) while we were walking back to the strip from the Hard Rock, and he said that this street is not the place you want to be, because all the locals know it to be dark, unlit, and filled with drunk people walking back to the strip from the hard Rock.

This is were Javon got his, so the moral of the story is, take a cab to and from the Hard Rock. (But definately go to the Hard Rock, and most definately check out the pool area while you are there, it has the highest hotass to thong ratio on the planet!!!

My Uncle and Aunt used to live in the Harbor Island apartments in Vegas,Right behind/adjacent to the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel - It was a nice development but the entire apartment village was bought 2 years ago by George Clooney to build high priced condominiums - and they got kicked out

Like I said. I wonder what the hell he's celebrating.
Didn't he sign with Oakland?

I'm sure that Clooney has taken a bath on this, as Vegas has been hit hard by the drop in home prices. Good, can't stand him.

Good to see the "blame the victim" crowd is out in full force. Some of you sound like the defense in The Accused; the way she was dressing, she was asking for it huh?

Dude, he HOSED DOWN A CROWD WITH CHAMPAGNE. The pic is right there. Did he not think someone would get pissed about that? I'm not sure how old you are or when the last time was that you've been to a club, but you do not pour champagne all over people without expecting a bad reaction out of at least one person. I mean, hell, it got Darrent Williams killed. I feel bad for the guy, don't get me wrong. Nobody deserves to be beaten or robbed. But he should have at least expected a punch in the face for it. THAT he was asking for.

And you know this information how? How do you know that the robbery had anything to do with the champagne? How do you know that the crowd at the club wasn't going nuts because Javon Walker was there? Oh that's right, you have no idea, but you are going to assume anyway. If you really feel bad for the guy and think he didn't deserve it, why are you harping on the champagne incident at all? What exactly does, "he HOSED DOWN A CROWD WITH CHAMPAGNE" followed by "nobody deserves to get beaten or robbed" mean? Sounds like you are talking out of both sides of your mouth.

Or maybe you're putting words in it. Nobody deserves to get beaten and robbed = nobody deserves to get beaten and robbed. HE HOSED PEOPLE DOWN WITH CHAMPAGNE = he had to have expected some sort of reaction from someone in that crowd. Newsflash - People in clubs do not like be sprayed down with any type of alcohol. Why?

1. Puts them at risk for a DUI if they are driving and are pulled over.
2. Burns the hell out of your eyes.
3. Ruins your clothes.
4. Makes you sticky.

I've seen people do it before. Usually, immediately, they are thrown out of the club and when the bouncers walk back inside, there is a beat down that occurs outside. Did I say that he got mugged because he did that? No. Try reading my post, buddy. I inferred that, because he did that (we have a pic in here for visual aid), he should have expected a reaction for an inebriated person somewhere.

So, to wrap it all up: Do I know that's what he got mugged for? No. Is the likelihood that he got mugged for that reason very high? Yes.

Not that I wholeheartedly endorse the "blame the victim crowd" as you call it; but.....

I am a fairly avid football fan and I couldn't pick Javon Walker out of a 5 man lineup if you gave me 4 chances. I could probably only name-face match about 3 guys on every team not named the Patriots if I had too. So to think that anyone or everyone at the club is "going nuts" because "javon walker" is there is pretty lame.
--- Who would even know who he was.
--- Which non-football fans would even care if someone told them 'that's javon walker'

Yeah it's all supposition that the 2 events are related; but if the guy was spraying champagne around it is not a big jump to think someon could take offense and act on it.

Well you could also suppose that he had an enormous entourage with him at the club which would make it pretty difficult to beat him up, rob him and take him back to his hotel room without anyone knowing or stopping it.......

Ofcourse, I have no idea, so I'll wait to hear the facts.

Y'all are defending Walker more than even the Raiders fans. If you hit their site, they've already condemned him and wriitten the contract off as a loss. Granted the facts aren't out, but from the info available, it appears pretty obvious what happened. The dude got rolled up for his actions and the robbery was just the icing on the cake (from the assailant's point of view). By the way, what happened to Jevon's posse?...pose?...pausey?

Nobody is "defending" Javon Walker because as of right now no one knows anything to defend against:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3448362

Cantrell said there were no reports of a disturbance at the club.

Maybe you are privy to additional info.

It means that Javon Walker hosed down a crown with champagne, but nobody deserves to get beaten or robbed.

No problem, glad i could help. If you have any other questions, ill be around for the next hour or 3.
