Here’s the release the Patriots just issued regarding Eric Alexander, as well as the release of three rookies:FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots re-signed exclusive rights free agent linebacker Eric Alexander today. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Additionally, the team released three players signed as rookie free agents this spring — tight [...]

I wonder if some rooky signings might be coming.

Tyler is no loss, but I was hoping that DeVree and Smith would be kept through TC to provide depth & competition at TE & NT, respectively. NFLDraftScout, for one, thought that both of these guys had a chance to make a team. I would've released Pollard & Fifita instead. Damn this hard 80-man limit, because of which some significant players will be injured during TC and lost for the season.

As for Alexander, I hope that this is the last contract he signs with the NEP.

Likewise for Alexander. He has already had four years to prove

himself and will never be a starter.

You are brain dead. He is a beast on ST.

OMG he isn't a starter on defense, CUT HIM.

I would remind folks that Mike Vrable was a 4 year LB playing on STs and unable to break the starting lineup ;.......... for the Steelers before he came to us.

i thought Alexander was cut a few months ago?

No need to cut a guy who was a FA a few months ago. And I agree that he's a beast on ST. ST coverage is a facet of the game that I think we'll see improvements in the upcoming season. Not that the unit needed all that much improvement from last year's squad to begin with, but with the new additions and guys like Ventrone also in the fold, the battles for the final spots based on ST play will make some fun summer following.

I'm hoping we have upgraded the LB position and ST so much that we do indeed cut him. And Izzo. But it's likely that both of these guys stick and almost certain at least one is still on our final 53.

The Pats have had very good STs. Bill believes in them and puts staarters on the teams if neccessary. We fans see the kickers, and the returners, like Gostkowski, Hansen and the Welker, Faulk, and Hobbs, Andrew, and Mahoney types.

There are the unknowns who play hard in annonimity. The heart of the coverage ST, are the gunners and prime tacklers. The Pats have excellent gunners in Andrews, Slater, and Washington; Alexander and Woods and Izzo provide good open field tackling, too.

This draft BB/SP have added some more good ones, in Crable and Slater, and perhaps Wilhite, Ruud, Guyton and Redd.

100% agreement with you on this one. He is a solid contributor to the team.

Great video on the bottom of your post.......Ray-Ray showed some moves there.
