This will get played up big time by ESPN.

STRAHAN SAYS HE’S RETIRING
Posted by Josh Alper on June 9, 2008, 11:43 a.m. EDT
Michael Strahan has told Jay Glazer of Fox that he’s retiring according to a report on their website this morning.

“It was important that my teammates knew which way I was going before they got on the field to start the work to defend our title,” the team’s all-time sack leader said from California. “It’s time. I’m done.”

Strahan told Glazer that he made up his mind last week but wanted to take a few extra days to guarantee that he didn’t change his mind. Strahan retires with 141.5 career sacks, the single-season record of 22.5 and a sure ticket to Canton. The Giants will fill his spot in the lineup with Renaldo Wynn and Justin Tuck.

The question now becomes if Strahan will join Glazer as a member of the Fox football crew or if he’s snapped up by one of the other networks. He’s almost certainly going to move in that direction. He’s been an affable, intelligent contributor to shows in past offseasons or when the Giants had been eliminated from the playoffs and is sure to attract a lot of interest.

Great, a guy like Strahan is JUST what we need on network television. I mean Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin, etc. definitely weren't enough. :rolleyes:

I don't care what people think on this site. I actually like Strahan and have a lot of respect for his playing ability.

Um, read once in a while. It is about his future as a sportscaster not as a player. Another guy you can't understand.

I doubt ESPN will bring him in to pressure Young.:) But, Hey, I could be wrong.

Tell you what, Afterlifemobile, I'll give you1 million dollars if you can quote 1 disparaging remark about Strahan as a player from before you posted in this thread.

Just one. for 1 [puts pinky to mouth] million dollars.:)

Ummmmmmm...........ROFL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!.........:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Uh, well, I guess I should elaborate for the weak minded in here...

Strahan was a great player. A great defensive lineman and a great athelete altogether. He has every right to be a first ballot HOFer. That said, I DO NOT want to see him on my television set next to the likes of Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin (that is if he was still hired and was not smoking crack). Don't we already have enough big mouth dumbasses on there who, despite being able to speak English, can't really speak English?

No need to be so uptight bud....:)
