Interesting story about depth at LB..meaning that possibly there could be a cut like Seward..even though the Pats may be all set..another young inside LB might not be bad

You should have revived the 600 post thread about seward for this topic....that thread was to funny.

all those posts for seward....people were going crazy in there.

Not this crap again.

On a side note, I hear we are changing our team name to the New England Sewards.

No, it means that they didn't like him enough to trade for him. That doesn't necessarily mean they wouldn't sign him if the Panthers cut him.

it sounds like a team made for ******ed fishermen

No, a team made up of ridiculously sarcastic super fans who think they know more than legendary NFL coaches and seem to be unemployed with no lives since all they do is act like internet tough guys all the time.

Actually, you should take your head out of your arse for a minute. No, it doesn't mean that the Pats weren't interested. It just means they weren't interested in paying the price of a 5th round pick.

That being said, I don't think they will pursue Seward even if he gets cut, unless Ruud, Redd and Guyton all end up busting.

if he isnt worth a 5 round pick he isnt much of a player end of discussion, thus they werernt interested in signing him, do you get it??

I get that you think everything is so cut and dry that you can't see beyond the end of your nose. That's what I get.

The Patriots, to have signed Seward, would have had to trade for him, ala Wes Welker because of the poison pill garbage that is going on now with RFA contracts. The NFLPA has already said that if a team tries to sign a player without a poison pill clause, it will file a collusion grievance against the teams involved.

So, while YOU think that the Pats weren't interested, some of us realize that there is more going on than just whether a player can be signed or is worth a 5th round pick. And the Pats did tell Seward that they wanted him as part of their future. Its just a question of when that future would be.

I just thought it was an interesting article about LB depth and the possibility of one of the backups being cut... If they had TRIED to get him, they would have given up a LOT and now, they might be able to get him for free.

the problem pats726 is that the article wasnt about him being cut it was how he is well liked and that he is great depth, you havefabricated this bit about being cut because you have a man love thing about seward, you hated the last stupid thread getting lost now your trying to re start it , so again i say get a life and go away

touche, but you missed out fickle annoying teenagers who think they know more than the eldest of supporters who have watched football way before their parents were even born

Even though I have never seen him play I am pretty sure he is either:
A) the best LB ever
or
B) the most interesting person in the world

He could potentially replace Alexander but would be on the bubble to make the Pats.

you can kiss my ass..

What do we know about LB Adam Seward?

He was brought in for a try-out by our New England Patriots who subsequently decided to forego forking over a fifth round draft pick prior to the draft to acquire his ass.

Anything else is an assumption.

Here is my assumption:

The Patriots did not want to handcuff themselves by losing their only fifth round pick. It does not mean that they didn't think Seward would have been worth a fifth round pick, it more likely means they wanted to keep all of their options open. Who knows what could happen in the draft? What if they needed the fifth to move up if one of their higher rated guys was available in the third round? What if they passed on "their guy" in the fourth and that guy fell to them in the fifth? What if they also factored into account the fact that, after realizing the interest in their top backup, the Carolina Panthers went out and signed FA Landon Johnson to proactively replace Seward?

Most likely the Patriots felt there were simply too many possible scenarios on draft day to justify forfeiting a pick for a player who had (and has) a chance of being cut and costing them nothing.
