Seau and Law

Actually, Gay did a helluva job against Owens. Owens longest reception was because Freddie Mitchell set a pick that opened Owens up.
Then we things very differently for I really can't say "helluva job" is a phrase I would use to describe Gay's performance against Owens.
Patrick Cobbs never carried the ball for the Patriots. He never made their roster. You are thinking of Cedric Cobbs.

Right and this came to me after I had posted. I just didn't feel like going back to edit my post.

You are also correct about Dillon. He didn't play in the Halloween game. Light broke his leg. Ashworth also went down in that game. I remember we ended up with Gorin at one OT position and Hochstein at the other to end that game. Daniel Graham also didn't play in that game.

Since you're making a point to highlight any incorrect information in other posts, Light broke his leg in '05, not the Halloween game.

It would seem that Seau and Law would be significant upgrades over Alexander and Webster, who I would have the replacing on the "current" roster.

Another position that we might be looking to upgrade is the #5 RB/FB, where Eckel is the incumbant. We at least need some competition for Eckel.

It seems that Slater, Aiken and Washington could be fighting for one ST spot, although we could keep more than one of the three.

Seau could also replace Izzo, if the FO finally decides that the time to get younger and faster at ST-only LB is now. And both Izzo and Alexander could be gone if Guyton/Ruud show that they aren't woth the risk of losing on waivers, as was the case with Rogers and Mills last year.

Law could also replace Richardson, who is currently #6 on the CB depth chart, which scares the shyte outta me. I can see Lewis Sanders moving to back up Meriweather at FS; he certainly has the size, it would just depend on his tackling ability.

I also like 5 RB/FBs on the 53, thus my disappointment that we didn't sign Mewelde Moore, or draft Jamaal Charles at the end of Round 2. If Kevin Jones somehow makes it here - and I rather doubt that he does - then that would solve everything. Who knows, maybe Eckel is a better runner than we think he is.

Sam Aiken brings absolutely nothing to the party that KW doesn't already provide. I'd rather just one of Aiken, KW and Slater; but if forced to choose, then KW would be the gunner, and MS would be - he'd better be - the returner.

1) IMO, we are set at CB with Webster, Bryant, Wheatly, Hobbs, Richardson and Wilhite.

2) Also, they already gave #24 to Wilhite, but #55 is still available for Seau. :p

1) That's a joke, right?

2) I agree that it's not a good sign at all for a Ty Law, or a Rosie Colvin (Hobson now has #59) return.

We have room for a 6th WR/KR or a 5th RB/FB or a 4th QB or a 4th TE.

As we have seen several times in the last few years, running back do indeed get injured. My preference is to NOT need to count on a Practice Squad player or a street free agent to fill foster spots in midseason.

My choice has aways been to have 5 RB/FB's, including a short yardage specialist, who can have a larger role if there is an injury. Bettis filled this role at the end of his career.

We can't afford to keep a 4th QB, unless one of the backups is a vet, e.g. Kelly Holcomb. And even then, I'd rather keep just the 3: Brady, Veteran, and one of Cassel, Gutierrez or O'Connell. My preference: sign Holcomb, or Tim Hasselbeck; trade Cassel; waive/sign to PS Gutierrez; and keep O'Connell.

I don't think that there is enough quality on the TE depth chart to warrent keeping 4 of them. My preference: Watson and Thomas, and Spach - unless a better Blocking TE becomes available.

Rather than keep a fifth RB, 6th WR, 4th TE, or 4th QB, I like to

see the Patriots keep an extra one or two rookie LBs as future

replacements for Tedy Bruschi and Mike Vrabel.

I think it is funny when people spend half their time saying we need to get younger and faster on defense, and the other half wanting to sign Law and Seau, keep Bruschi, shudda kept WMG, etc etc etc.

I find it funny how some people think the two are mutually exclusive.

Younger and faster for the sake of getting younger and faster are nothing more than meaningless talking points to me. Law, Seau, Bruschi and Rodney can all still play and at a high level. I'd rather have these guys than younger and faster guys like Monte. Obviously though, you want younger, faster guys who are still capable of playing. Usually though, they command a high premium be it their draft positionings or their FA salaries.

They loved Seau down here.
Lolfans got so pissed off when he came out of retirement.
Sucks for them

I firmly believe both Law and Seau will be back sometime in July or August, a la Troy and Vinny last year.

I'm against either returning. "We want to get younger and faster on defense. I'v been saying that since I came here." thus spake BB. Tedy will do a better job of coaching up Mayo and Hobson by himself than with Jr. around. Law is a safety now, we've got plenty of those. Let those two retreads go, already.
