Jason Taylor is expected to formally demand a trade from the Dolphins at an 11:30AM ET press conference on Sunday.

Taylor is expected to ask to be traded to a contender and also announce that 2008 will be his last season.

Could be VERY interesting.

So basically he's saying trade him to the Patriots ;). No really, I think the Pats will step up and get Taylor if in fact it's his last year. Miami will take the best offer and if that's New England, I think Miami can survive for one year.

Don't count on it. There are plenty of other contenders that Tuna would rather deal to that wouldn't hurt him twice this season.

Here's who I see in order of probability:

1. Chargers
2. Giants
3. Colts
3. Eagles

The top two puts him in/near the entertainment industry.

Re: OT: Jason Taylor expected to demand a trade @ 11:30am Press conference (6/1)

According to several sources and from what I have heard all over the sports radio that there are about 6 teams interested in a trade for Taylor - The Patriots are NOT one of those 6 so lets stop with this stupid crap already -
TAYLOR IS NOT COMING TO FOXBORO!!!

The Chargers,Saints and Giants are the top 3 contenders and he will most likely go to one of these teams - I hope its an NFC team like N.O.

The chargers? What position is he going to play?
The giants, With Kiwi, Stahan and OSI
The colts with Freeney, Mathis and soon to be Colvin?
The eagles did not make the playoffs and play inone of the most evenly balanced divisions, and i think they arethe 4th best team in that division

The Seahawks, Jacksonville, Tampa are more likely landing spots

Parcells is not as stupid as his predecessor. Taylor to the Chargers.

...

Um, the Patriots are a 3-4 team like the Chargers. On the Patriots I could see him being an OLB. I assume the same in SD.

The Chargers do not have a 2nd rounder next year. A probable late 3rd rounder may not be enough. So would a 3rd and 4th do it? I don't know, but for San Diego it would pretty much clean out quality draft picks for next year.

Less not forget Parcells has YET to address the Fins' CB situation, and to boot-Andy Reid doesn't seem to be satisfied with the other DE position(as he tried to make a move for Jared Allen).

Expect a Jason Taylor-Lito Shepperd trade to be in the works soon...you heard it here first.

It's not going to take a second if he is announcing his intention to retire in 2008. More like a fourth rounder, if that. He's basically leveraging Tuna by downgrading his own trade value dramatically. He obviously wants to play and is tiring of the BS that will only extend into July under the Tuna playing the new hard ass sherriff scenario.

Option 2 will be to show up at the mandatory OTA next week and force Miami to assume a $9M injury risk or try to lock him out which as we know from the McNair situation will result in his release. Would be tougher to eve n attempt to make a case with Jason as well since he didn't finish the season injured.

I think you have it right..his price is lower and there's no way Parcelss can make it increase. He wishes to play the tough sheriff and most likely they get nada.

Cowboys is also a possibility.

As for the Chargers 2009 3rd round and a 2nd round in 2010 if JT plays in both 2008 & 2009. Or JT and the Dolphins 2nd for the Chargers 1st. There are plenty of ways to make a deal if you want to.

Hmmm. . . . remember why some of us were wondering why the Pats felt SD's second was worth risking not getting Crable? Well, taking that second from San Diego keeps them from offering a second for another player, whether Mr. Taylor or an RFA.

There you go...that was my first thought.

Good point-Greg Ellis is whining(again, and for the 3rd straight year).

Ellis is one heck of a player, and to be frank, his whining isn't THAT impactful(at least not as much as TO's), and when all is said and done, he produces like heck. However-personally, I'm getting tired of it. Plus Ellis has always been a Parcells favorite in Dallas.

Not saying it'll happen, but a lateral Taylor-Ellis trade won't surprise me.

Re: OT: Jason Taylor expected to demand a trade @ 11:30am Press conference (6/1)

If he's demanding a trade, it's stupid for him to announce at the same time that it's his final season. No one's going to part with anything significant for just one year of his services, and the Dolphins would be unlikely to let him shoot his way out of town for nothing. They'll probably just let him dangle and he'll either play for them or retire. If he stays in shape I don't see why he can't play two or even three more years.

Cause he doesn't want to?

That might change if he wasn't playing for a 1 win team, of course.

I'm just saying, if he wants to maximize his chances of playing elsewhere, he'd be stupid to announce intent to retire after the coming season.

If he wants to maximize his chances to play for a team that he want to play for he will announce that he is willing to restructure his contract that if he the team he plays for plays a game during divisional playoff week than he will return all of his 2009 salary and bonus other than the vet min.

Except that lessens his value, which means it gives him more leverage.
