Will Pats fall victim to SB loser Jinx???

FYI-if Hassellbach got a CLEAN exchange from center in that NFCDG against the Bears last year, they would have ended up scoring the winning points, advancing to the NFCCG, and possibly the Super Bowl after that.

Really-this whole "Super Bowl loser" curse is somewhat of a myth, really. So what if a few teams stunk it up the last few years?

If it hasn't been mentioned, I don't think anything but an injury can keep a 16-0 team out of the playoffs the next year. It isn't as if the Pats have a tough schedule, but they do play a few west coast games that will take some conditioning. I don't expect much from the Dolphins, Jets and Bills when it comes to playoff contention. I can't see any of them being pushovers, but with Randy Moss, Welker and Brady, a big season is possible with tons of scoring.

Trust me, if anything happens to Brady this season, that will be our superbowl jinx.

Oh, someone already beat me to it.
Meh, even Matt Cassell or some random loser free agent could get this team into the playoffs. Yes, they probably wouldn't win the Bowl, I'm just saying they wouldn't be a crap team that wouldn't miss the playoffs totally.

What worries me most are injuries that seem to happen after a long season, it seems that every time we have been in a Superbowl the following year has been plagued with serious injuries.. maybe they do not have enough time to heal.. not real sure, but without regard this team is deep, but if we get hit in key areas we will make the playoffs.. but will have a hard road ahead.

Then we can start threads blaming the training staff again.. cannot wait!!

As a New Englander I know curses. The curse of the Bambino was frightening for 86 years until somebody turned on the lights and it was just lack of starting pitching.

Curse/schmerse. Things happen for a real reason, not mumbo-jumbo.

I agree. Sure some teams will surprise, but given two rags to riches teams on that schedule... Besides, who wins the division?

No, without Brady they don't go deep in the playoffs, but they make the playoffs.

NO - This team does NOT make the playoffs without Brady in the offense PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- If somehow Brady does get injured in the early part of the season I am ready to bet any one in here (with proceeds to a charity) that the team does NOT go to the playoffs.

Matt Cassell leading this team into the playoffs,if Brady is hurt early in the season??? - You're freaking nuts!!!!!!!

I think the Bills would win the division if Brady got injured with the Jets as a longshot although the Jets potentially may have the best OL in the league this year,at least on paper right now - But if the Pats falter, the Bills are the next logical choice.

I agree. It is not a curse. It happens for several reasons. Often you lose star players, your coaching staff has less time than other teams to prepare for the next season, your team is frustrated that results in lower motivation, if some player(s) blame another player(s) for the lose their can be friction within the team, late draft pick, etc. Some factors are worse than others for the Pats some are not as bad. There are concrete reasons why teams often have a bad season the following year, it is not a curse, but it is a trend.

Seriously, you think the Bills will go over 8-8? Say 9-7. OK, I'll bet you a line of the winners choosing. I say the Bills do not go 9-7 or better.

Oh, if Cassel has to start I can still see the Patriots doing 9-7 and winning the division. I can't see the Jets, Dolphins, or Bills doing 9-7.

We only lost one starter (Covlin, Seau wasn't a starter initially) from last year, and maybe Stallworth if you want to include him. If Hobson or Mayo step up this year we may have a better team then last year, meaning it would take a big drop off to not make the playoffs.

If any team can beat the jinx and come back and win the SB after losing it, the Patriots can. The Bills beat it three years in a row and got back to the big game, but without winning it. I see no reason why we can't do them one better and win.

Kind of silly to base rankings on only last season's playoffs. I'd put good money on the Colts having a much more successful season in 08 than the Favreless Packers. Cowboys and Steelers could both have spots on a preseason top 5 list, neither lost their marquee player this spring.

That's not a power ranking, that's last year playoff standings.

There is a difference, you know, as a Power Ranking is based to some extent on expected success (at the beginning of the year, probably about 80% should be expected success IMO) with the other part based on actual results.

Look at the teams that fell to the curse. Steelers, Bears, Seahawks, none of those teams have our kind of team

Now, how in the WORLD can you rate a team based on last years results???? I mean, Strahan is not even signed yet and he may retire.

I agree that your ratings were valid up until the last week of February - i.e. when Free agency started.

I just don't get why that's so hard for people to understand.

True. Also, we won 16 regular season games in a row last year and people said that would never happen. Bring it on.
