Holy negative thread.

Seems there's a fine line between ****y and humble, and Jackson just can't get it right with some people.

Jackson will show up this year. He's got too much money to loose if he does not. Look what ONE year with this team can do for a Free Agent - and he has TWO years to go of Tommy throwing to him - He'll show.

I think he probably has his initial reads down but has not yet had the opportunity, for one reason or another, to get on the field, in game situations, and learn and apply the mental options available each play. For example, when he sees a cover-2, he goes from a post to an out, or something like that. This is something Brady said is one of the toughest things for a qb and receiver to learn. The qb and wr have to be on the same page and see the same thing at the line or off of the line. I can imagine it being more than a little daunting being out there with a qb the stature of Brady and not wanting to mess up, nevermind with a coach like BB and such a talented team around him. I would assume this could wear on a young, inexperienced player who may be feeling the pressure.

new season new outlook for chad?

if so, we have the next mold for a brandon marshall type

For a kid who was criticized for a lack of maturity 2 yrs ago, I thought he sounded focused and involved. The mere fact that he spent his off-season here rehabbing with the trainers and learning alternative treatments for his hamstrings, rather than at home in Fla., was good for something. IMO, the kid sounds like he is maturing and attempting to fit in , in the "right way."

Yeah, on the main front page one of the articles said his on-field improvement is noticeable, so either a writer needs something to write, or else he just happened to run especially sharp routes right before this interview. I don't think he would be able to do that then turn it off out of spite or anything.

The interview read like a kid who's at least smart enough to know the fans aren't going to go ga-ga over you if you're sulky, and a kid who's aware of the criticisms of his performance (or lack thereof.)

As always, wait and see... a big year out of CJack would be a nice surprise.

I care more about what he does on the field than what how he says it...reading tea leaves..(OK a step up from that...)

Interesting to hear him going on and on about "learning the playbook." How much does the playbook change from year-to-year? Is it a 100% overhaul? 90%? 50%? 20%?

Unless its a 90-100% overhaul, not too encouraging hearing about how he is still working on it. But again, I don't know how much the playbook changes in the offseason ...

(And I'm a Chad Jackson Moderate, so no agenda here.)

I was going to post the same thing. The fact that he kept saying that he was just trying to learn that playbook put up a red flag for me. Shouldn't he know the playbook by now?

Weird line in the Gasper article.

At the end, Gasper calls Jackson callow.

I've only heard that term used negatively, and I have heard it used a lot.

It typically means "immature" or a person with a "hardened I don't give a damn" attitude, someone who is unsympathetic to the world around him.

It really doesn't fit with the rest of Gasper's article which portrayed Jackson in a different light. I think Gasper just reached for the wrong word there.

Unless he meant it as a subtle dig.

Lets not over analyze. He is healthy again, he stated he is understanding the playbook better, and he has an open position to compete for lets see what happens.

I for one think he has enough potential to deserve the benifit of at the very least one more training camp to win out a position.

All I know is, the first thought I had was "The playbook ?".......wasn't that why he hardly got to play his first two years ? I know the injuries played a big part, but he was a healthy scratch a half a dozen times his first two year. This is YEAR 3 !! The playbook shouldn't be a major concern.

That being said, I have extremely high hopes for Chad Jackson, I'm rooting for him to take Stallworth's spot this year.

I retwatched some video on him and his style reminds me of T.O. Big, strong, agressive, and fast. If he has half the talent that T.O. does, we will have a better receiving corps. this year than we did last year. That, along with Morris and Maroney healthy in the backfield would again make this offense scary. I'm rooting for Jackson all the way, not because I'm a Gator fan, but because I want to see him succeed and help this offense get the second deep threat that it didn't have last year.
