He attacked the Patriots ,so now We attack Him.He does have an Achilles heal and that is the NBA and The Tim Donahy situation.Using his logic shouldn't David Stern be livid? Bob is a known NBA Apologist yet We haven't read a word about this topic of gambling and The NBA.I think We should all email Him and remind him of his hypocrisy .Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

not getting it. Did he say something that wasn't true?

Yeah, he made a bad analogy about cover-ups and Watergate. Belichick and the Patriots, unlike the Nixon WH, gave up all their tapes and have cooperated fully with the investigation. Ryan deserves it for a very bad analogy.

What Patriot cover-up is he talking about? There was no cover-up.

The only problem with this logic is that it wasn't an NBA TEAM that was caught violating the rules. It was a referee...kinda the same, but not really.

I agree. It makes a lot of sense to really lay into one of the best writers in the business, a guy who is paid to write his opinion because of this bad analogy.

:)

Uh, yeah. It does. That was the title of the story, and it was the MAIN POINT of the story, one still featured prominently on the Globe Online website.

"The Cover-Up is Most Revealing."

That was the major point he was making. That the cover-up was just like Watergate, worse than the crime.

Did you even bother reading the article that this is in response to?

His achilles heel is his audience. Just ignore it if you don't like what he has to say.

Yes. He accused the Patriots/Belichick of perpetrating a "coverup" in cameragate. If you'd read the column you wouldn't have to ask this question.

They're all hypocrites. They nail the Pats to the wall for a violation where any competitive advantage, if any, is impossible to determine.

Yet, they gleefully ignore the Broncos* and 49ers* who have willfully violated the salary cap rules and have been punished. In the case of the Broncos*, it was a punishment twice that of the Pats.

I've YET to hear a single mediot to mention it. I've YET to hear a single mediot wonder if the Broncos* Lombardi's should be taken back. They gained an obvious competitive advantage that directly impacted on their wins...

...but not a word about it.

As I say, it's the hypocrisy that infuriates me the most.

I heard Spector's interview with D&C this morning on Instant Replay. Dennis asked him why he was not outraged by the NBA gambling scandal, after all a game between the Celtics and Sixers (which Phily lost) was one of the games impacted. Spector replied that he sent numerous letters to Goodell that went unanswered and he felt it was a major cover up, yet he was satisfied with the NBA's investigation. When Dennis continued to press him on the issue, he changed the subject.

Ryan suggested that for the Patriots to be looked on as a great dynasty they will have to heal their image nationally. Well I suppose techinally that's true, but IMO the only way to do that is with time. As time passes it will become common knowledge that stealing signals illegally was fairly widespread throughout the league & not very significant in determining the final outcome. Of course winning another SB wouldn't hurt matters either. :rocker:
