Attempting to defend himself and making an ass of himself just in the crossover with Dale and Holley so far. Contending that if the report that a players name was on the Mitchell report ACCORDING to another source, they did the same thing as Tomase...who was the source of a report.

Just him and Glenn and the callers for 4 hours hereafter. Epic meltdown if anyone cares to listen.

Keep us posted...

Re: Masserotti is on WEEI

Wow! He's really losing it. Telling Dale Arnold to leave isn't going to win him many friends at the station.

Re: Masserotti is on WEEI

one of the most stupid arguments I've ever heard from masserotti. shocking stuff

I wish Dale would leave too...IMO...I hate that dude's voice (not his opinions)

Re: Masserotti is on WEEI

Mazz is just ridiculous...I would ask him one thing..IF he's Mr Integrity why is he working for such a paper THAT has NO integrity at all?? What kind of rag would let a flimsy sourced story go to print?? Through how many editors?? THAT is sad...

Re: Masserotti is on WEEI

he is looking more like an idiot and his argument provides an insight into how the boston media thinks in general. And these guys waste pages of paper writing stuff they dont really like or believe.

I not the biggest Dale Arnold fan, but Maz attacking him like he was is not going to win him any fans after pissing off the fanbase last week. Dale is a little bland for my tasted, but he is one of the more levelheaded people on WEEI.

Re: Masserotti is on WEEI

Maz is picking the exact wrong time to be pulling this stuff. His last book didn't do all that well. The market is flooded with Red Sox books by better writers, and still he decides to call the fans and the teams they support names.

Someone banish him back to 1510, I liked it better when he raised the bar in silence and static.

this will be good

Re: Masserotti is on WEEI

Masserotti should never appear on WEEI again. He's a complete moron.

Well, there'd be no one on the station if they didn't let complete morons talk and host shows...

Having Maz on is a waste of time. You can't reason with an irrational individual. He was incensed that Dale was on record saying (not that the team should sue the Herald but) that if it were him he would.

Stick with me here, this is tortured logic I'm trying to decipher. Maz thinks that it is more aggregious for media outlet like WEEI (aka not print "journalists" as the diminutive elitist sees himself) to repeat a report citing another established media source whose information proved incorrect than it was for the Herald to break a story themselves that turned out to be incorrect.

Back when the Mitchell report was leaking out, Dale and Holley were getting lists of players whose names would appear in the report all day. They did not report these names UNTIL they were reported by WABC in NY. Some of the names (like Varitek's) were wrong. Maz somehow thinks they were as culpable as Tomase, as oppsed to WABC being as culpable. He couldn't answer why ESPN, NYT and every network on the planet were not equally cullpable under his apples and oranges theory for reporting what John Tomase of the Boston Herald reported without "making a few calls and verifying the information...". This is beyond tortured.

Unfortunately they have Max on as well they should because of the Celtics win, but in this context it will result in more gibberish cover for Tony to duck behind.

He's just STILL pissed that he didn't get the gig to sit next to Dale when Eddie left. A crybaby and he has zero credibility.

Tony makes less sense than the lunatic preacher that 1510 has on overnights, and that's saying a lot.

You know your station is in trouble when you're giving five hours of airtime (the graveyard shift, granted) to a guy who thinks the world is going to end tomorrow.

Oh man, I remember when Maz and Simmons would be on the same show on 1510. It was like listening to Elmo and the Teletubbies debate sports (and I like Simmons). Throw in Andelman and you have yourself an awful sports talk show.

The funny thing about the logic he was using too is that he was claiming that it is not fair that print as higher standards than radio. He was saying that print stays out there forever and failed to realize that is why print is held to higher standards.

Re: Masserotti is on WEEI

I understand that Mazz has to defend the Herald and he has an agenda but that was the most absurd argument I've ever heard. He obviously knows the difference between Tomasse writing a story and Dale reporting a story written somewhere else, if he doesn't he shouldn't be a journalist.

Maz has been an impressively annoying jacka** for quite some time, I can't wait to hear what's in store for him on the whiner line as I drive home tonite. The guy really has NO IDEA what he's talking about when it comes to football or basketball, yet he continues to write articles on both sports and truly embarrass himself. On top of that, he derives what little self-esteem he has from alienating fans and providing himself with a false sense of superiority.
